The Coventry -Mercia Vikings are back in home action this Friday (May 18th) in the second half which follows the Coventry v Peterborough Elite Match (8pm start). The National Cash Advance Vikings will be looking for revenge for the recent defeat at Loomer Road against the Spitfires in a MDL match curtailed due to the curfew.

The Vikings were down to two riders that night after an eventful heat one that saw Freddie Owen stretchered off with a shoulder injury after Shaun Tedham fell in front of him. In the re-run replacement Martin Knuckey came to grief on the first bend and put his machine out of use for the rest of the meeting.

Skipper Owen , after top scoring against Milton Keynes at Rye House last Saturday crashed on Sunday at Kings Lynn breaking his leg and ankle ruling him out for the better part of the season. Against the Knights the Vikings battled hard with team boss Kelvin Lapworth commenting , “Although we lost tonight I was delighted with the teams performance. All the lads gave it 100% and we had a very good buzz in the pits. The season still has a very long way to go and the way we rode tonight I believe we can make it all the way to the play off final"

The Vikings squad system sees just Paul Quarterman , who will captain the side , remain from the quartet who rode against Milton Keynes. Dan Greenwood returns to the side at number one with Cam Hoskins at two and Lee Geary at 3 .

I guess it's going to be another late night at Brandon then. Hope they get a move on with the main meeting because I do like to stay behind to watch the youngsters...even though they scare me to death.

I stopped over always do for the second half as like to see the youngsters out their. I think if it was not for the weather a few more would of stopped. Greenwood looked really good going through the card shame about the conditions as you could see the lads were finding it difficult out their on the greasy surface.
