Kings Lynn V The Heathens

Recommended Posts

For me winning isn't really the be all and end all for the Young Stars but I have to say that I don't agree with those who have tipped Lynn as possible NL winners. Kerr and to a lesser extent Stokes & Lowe have improvement in them but the other four IMO have reached their level and that isn't what title winning sides are based on. The side lacks a bit of spark and as a punter doesn't really motivate me to go and watch, Kerr apart. That said I wish the lads luck for the remainder of the season and hope they prove me wrong.

I'm starting to wonder how we're possible NL winners now myself. I went to Mildenhall a few weeks ago with dad when the Young Stars were there and left fairly dissappointed. The only real shining light from that meeting for us was Tom Stokes. Again last night, he looked really good. Lewis Kerr, at Mildenhall, looked awful but last night he looked a lot better, he was just very unlucky with his falls, but his style was most certainly back. Adam Lowe also looked a bit better compared to the Mildenhall meeting, but after coming back from that nasty back injury(?) from last year, it's not surprised he's not banging in high scores, so I think he's managing. Jake Knight seems to have gone off the boil big time which is sad to see as he looked impressive last year. Dad has already stated that he won't be going to any NL meetings. For me personally, I'm undecided. I could go up for a nosey on my own if I wanted, but we'll see. I wasn't surprised to see Dudley take the win TBH, as they have a strong top 3, but at the same time, Lynn did throw it away in my eyes in the last few heats.

Yes, no argument there. Emotions are very raw this week too.

-------------------------------

Can anyone that was there comment on Ritchings? He's not really got going properly, often sluggish out the start and not showing the pace we saw at times last season. Was he there or thereabouts last night or only really worthy of his points total?

21st, I am a big Daryll fan he has a natural style and ability, like you so far this season i think he has been dissapointing, when i have seen him this season only missed last nights meeting he seems to be struggling on the bike, and whichever bike he has ridden they seem way down on power, just hasnt got the speed which we all know he can show, and he really should be beating some of these riders he is being beaten by. For me we have 2 big plusses so far this season, they are Tom Perry who has turned his ability into points, and young Dan Greenwood, who having been out of the sport for 3 years has shown he can win races, and just needs to steady up a little away from home, and just remember its not sometimes about winning every race, but also about picking up the odd 2nd and 3rd place here and there. Overall a good start to the season and once Byron settles down and starts staying on the bike again, Daryll sorts those bikes out we should be more than a match for most teams.

No Fan booed to a rider falling, the boos were to rider falling getting up looking at the race order then blatantly falling to his knees to get the race re-started. And no Kings Lynn supporter can deny this it was so obvious. Especially with a birds eye view from the 1st bend.

Very very disappointed with the disgraceful Heathen supporters tonight. It's a very emotional time for British Speedway right now & their constant cheering when Young Stars riders took falls was horrendous.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Absolutely furious.

Completely spoilt a nights speedway. Pretty angry right now

well i,m going to reply to this load of tosh....1st the only time any heathens fans boo,d was the blatant YES blatant bad sportsmanship by one mr kerr who went down on second bend looked up saw the heathens on a 5-1 stood there and got the race stopped..made no attempt to clear the track...unlike some of his teamates who went down and did clear the track oh and the heathens riders did the same and tried to clear the track, the heathens fans also observed an immaculate minutes silence and applause , and you forgot to mention the applause they gave to the rider who had the ambulance come out to him but didnt need it blue helmet ...i just ticked the terms and conditions box...just above it there is a paragraph stating don,t make any derogatory statements..did you read it ? mr allitt came out at the end and applauded the heathens fans...was that for being disgusting ???? troublemakers really p$$$ me off. it was a good meeting with incidents throughoutbut heathens fans did not cheer lynn riders fallind at all and only gave the one cheat some stick and he deserved it . you also forgot to mention the applause we gave all your heat winners as they came back to the pits...coming down to monmore next week to cheer your team ?? well said mr wembley81,where i was stood there was a kings lynn fan that admitted kerr was cheating(well almost he called it tactics),the best thing of all some bird came up from the pits ranting and raving, about the booing saying that kerr was hurt after his slight misdemeanour, all in all it was a good meeting roll on tuesday so i can exercise my booing vocal chords again at young mr kerr.

Some riders instinct is to get up straight away like they do in motocross which he came from!! Looking in the pits he was holding his chest and throat so before you call any1 a cheat get your facts right! I've watched the young stars for years and seeing Kerr come through has never ever came across as a cheat! Ask any stars fans and they will tell you he wouldn't stay on the track if he could of cleared it in time! Nice to boo an up and coming young Brit!! Round of applause! Heathens by name heathens by nature!!

IF he has 'cheated' then booing him at the time in the heat of the moment is fair enough, but to plan to do it again on Tuesday is a little unnecessary and not really what the NL should be about. I think sometimes people lose sight of the fact that its a competition for young lads to develop and make their way. And if he has 'cheated' then he's not the first and certainly won't be the last, and I'm sure more than one Cradley rider has done it at some point. If you beleive what you read some Dudley fans have given their club a negative reputation since their re-incarnation and comments like those on this thread don't really help. If that is representative of the Heathen's support then perhaps the club should go up to the PL and let the NL lads develop in a more positive and helpful environment.

It's the Heathen fans not getting the facts right.

Kerr dropped a chain which got tangled so he couldn't move his bike. If you taken time to notice his bike had to be carried back to the pits.

I suppose once a rider goes down they should carry the bikes on their shoulders.

Heathen fans where a disgrace and trying to defend it is perthetic of the highest order

I was there and he span round ended up on his feet had a look at bottom corner then placed hands on his knees and looked at track, seemed fine in pits after and he got boed for not trying to cleat the track, don t really know why issue being made as if he is to go on to bigger things then crowd reactions is something you have to get used to. Anyway does anyone know how cockles is has he broken thumb ???

ps was a good meeting on a great track

ps was a good meeting on a great track

After the first 4-5 races it was. Track was too grippy early on with only Roynon able to handle conditions. Once it slickend up the racing got going

When holding his chest and throat in the pits seemed fine did it!?? You need your eyes tested!! Booing on tues is very grown up of you all. Young riders trying there best to make it in the sport and all you lot do is put them down! It's NL level so give them a break and support them not tarnish them with a bad name for something they haven't done! Cheating my arse!! Pathetic!!

Ok guys :) let me clear this one up for everyone.

As already mentioned on here Lewis does come from a back ground of MX and as such seems to always jump straight up whenever he falls! This was highlighted to the extreme last season when in may he broke his ankle and yet jumped straight up before collapsing. As team manager i was one of the first on the scene and I can assure you that Lewis was winded he had either landed funny or had something hit the top of his chest area. and was winded which is why it took a minute or two before he walked off.

Nothing more than that people. Having know Lewis for the last couple of years he is a great guy and a racer and would not just lay around for no reason, it is not in his nature to do that. The Dudley fans will clearly decide how they want to handle things on Tuesday but give the guy a break please he does not deserve to be called a cheat in fact in this case nothing could be further from the truth.

The support that Dudley have is fantastic and as I have said many times I truly hope that one day you have your own track back again speedway would be the better for it.

Lastly as for us winning the league, that would be great but this has all come from the press not us, Bagpuss and emuk you have continued to be a great support to the Young Stars and you will both know that like a stuck record I and the club have always said this is and always will be a development club. I truly believe we have 3 or 4 riders that can go much further and that is what the Young Stars is about. I have said that if the riders continue to improve as the season goes on then a playoff spot is possible and we all are working hard to make that happen. Please continue to support these young guys, we keep saying it but just the 3rd meeting of the season is hardly helping either :(

Oops forgot to mentions Jock and Screamer now I will be booed lol. Thanks for the support everyone :)

So cheating your happy with.

Surely it's only cheating if it breaks any rules of the sport?

It may be "bad sportsmanship" or a "tactical choice" - some will see it as a smart move for the team in the circumstances, some will say it has no place in the sport, but unless it breaks any rules then it's not cheating so calling young Lewis a "cheat" when he's broken no rules is out of order.

Think ppl need to get calm down it was a heat of the moment reaction, Im sure Kerr will get worse in his racing career. It's all light hearted banter, it may only just be a development league to Kings Lynn, but its all us Heathens have, so if we take it seriously then so be it, there will be no apology for that.I think Kings Lynn is a fab place to visit, were always makes to feel welcome. Keep up the good work.
