spiegal
Nigel pearson NOT a professional sports commentator-you are having a laugh ! speedway, football and darts-someone has to say it- you don`t know what you are on about. Quite correct...Nigel Pearson knows his speedway..his football and his darts. he is a seasoned and quality "Mike Man" and frankly given the options he has been offered, the sport is lucky to have him. I have over the years broadcast live many times on radio on sports...mainly Speedway from 8 world finals..it's a science, and a very very hard job. Those with no experience and knowledge of what's involved shoudl stick their ill judged opinions right where the sun will never shine. Over and out.
racers and royals
Despite a fantastic result a pretty dull affair. Poor crowd and poor racing. Surely Prague needs to be dropped from the schedule? poor crowd ? GP website says stadium holds 10,000 well there must have been 8000 there which ain`t to bad-top price grandstand seats were over £75. Prague is a great place to visit.yes racing wasn`t top drawer but certainly an improvement over previous efforts. So i say keep it.

Can't say much as i have only watched the Final and of course happy Nicki won,but from the gate usual stuff. Not really a favourite track which is why i couldn't be bothered watching it.You just knew all the talk of improvements wasn't going to come off.Maybe next year? As for the crowd well i am sure Humphrey will tell us how bad it was.But we will probably get 8,000 at Teterow for the Bank Holiday meeting in the middle of nowhere...... pandorum
Worth watching just to see wild card Franc defeat ALL of the eventual finalists. That can't have happened many times in GP. And not only defeat them..... but defeat them well!

And not only defeat them..... but defeat them well! Excellent showing from Pepe, bit of a mundane GP and a bit gate and go. Sadly another shocker for Harris, its to be hoped he can make it through to next year through the GP Challenge route,as he cant surely get another wildcard pick and theres little evidence to support a top eight finish. Gemini
Listen to it with the sound off, mimic the sound of the bikes going round with your lips. Simples. I can't understand why people who really object to the commentary don't just do that - well without the bike noise. I mean we don't normally get details of what's going on during the race when we are at a speedway meeting....unless you happen to be a Coventry fan of course. Not sure that is what i'll be hoping for,but it would be what you might expect from the GP Challenge. That the riders who qualify just ain't up to it.I do hope he manages to get his career back on track as a few years back he was quite exciting and had people around Europe talking about him positively
HasseHolmqvist
Hancocks decision to finish last in the final so he did not have to shake hands with Nicki "The Beast" Pedersen on the rostrum could well come back to haunt him Well done Nicki though why Jason let you have gate 2 again after seeing what you did in the semi is beyond me, he really should try to keep up
Gavan
The finalists were the old guard with 9 world titles between them and these guys love em or loathe em are proving they are true legends of the sport. but to be fair to me it shows the decline of up and coming riders. We have only Holder and Hampel who can mix it with these boys on a consistent basis. Jonsson proving that last season was a one off. With the exception of Ward who else is there? No wonder these 4 finalists dont want to retire they are still the best out there

I like Chris he is a decent speedway rider. But he will never be a threat to the SGP. Last night he looked worse than usual and then picked up a bit which is usually his SGP season. His top 3 aspirations look a bit shaky and he should look to a more achievable goal of holding onto 15th which is far from certain. As far as 2013 goes he deserves no pick so only the challenge should be open to him. SGP does not need a Brit rider in the SGP but Britain needs a rider in the SGP. We frankly don't deserve one. Young Tai has the right idea in qualifying on merit. Chris will fail miserably again this year and then try to whine his way to a pick. His Polish manager was right he is 'weak' and will never be one of the greats. A decent league rider indeed but world class....never! He has had his chances so it's time to hand his charity pick to someone else.
SCB
Best Czech GP in years. Was that the 4 oldest riders in the final? I wrote Nicki and Crump off as top men this season, what do I know?! Standings make great reading now, nobody is stepping up, hope we get a 4-6 man race all season.
Tsunami
Nope, if Pearson can repeat the same old tripe at girlie screaming level every other race, I can complain about him ruining my speedway coverage. It's funny though, as I pointed out above fans of other sports seem to think he ruins their coverage of darts too, and the fact is you cant defend his commentary so you two keep coming out with the same old rubbish at my postings. Pearson ruins what is something a great product. Do as others have pointed out to you, and that is to watch it in silence. Then the two of us and the rest on here wouldn't have to read your usual rubbish.

I really am sorry to say this - but - I believe that Chris Harris should be dropped from the SGP at the end of the Season. He is a GREAT Rider to watch in League Racing, the trouble is that his performances in the SGP are becoming embarassing. Personally I am tired of WILLING Chris to pass other Riders - it rarely happens. T don't know wheter the problem is Chris, his Bikes or his Team but sadly he is not competative at present. If Chris is the best we have - and I believe he is - then I can see next year there being no British Representative in the SGP. Perhaps they may give him another chance because he is British. That would not be right as it would be keeping someone out of the SGP who is capable of doing better. SELECTION BECAUSE OF NATIONALITY IS JUST PLAIN WRONG. I didnt think that Harris shouldve got a wildcard pick for this season, maybe the GP organisers didnt want to run a GP series without a GB rider, but the fact remains I dont think Harris deserves his GP spot.I think that the fact that a couple of riders withdrew from GPs also helped Harris`s case.

From the "old fart" of the board. My first meeting was in 1948 at the age of 4. We got our first television- a 9" Murphy in 1952. The World Final was on a Thursday night from Wembley. They showed heats 13-20 with commentary by Alan Weekes. And the next meeting on TV was.......... next September, same time, same place! What we get now, from England, Poland, Sweden, Denmark is just bloody fantastic. Those who don't like Nigel Pearson's style should just turn the sound down a little and think what it would be like, as it was for us then, with NO SPEEDWAY on TV. Regards. Alan. But surely it's about opinion? Marmite along with myself and many others have the opinion that Pearson is a poor and fairly unprofessional speedway commentator. I can't comment on his work in other sports as I've not heard enough of it. His constant mistakes and "woooaaahhhhh" are terrible. However I think he is a half decent presenter and if we could get a half decent commentator then SKY's already excellent production woul improve tenfold. I pay around a hundred quid a month to SKY for their various services I believe therefore I am entitled to an opinion on one of it's products. " Of course you are, and no one has suggested otherwise. I responded to "Screm's" post in which he made the point that speedway needs Sky, more than Sky needs speedway. If you don't like Nigel Pearson's commentary, you can communicate your view to Sky directly. Alternatively you can, as i suggested, turn the sound down so that it doesn't grate on you so much. Finally, of course, if you are that disgruntled you could cancel your subscription. I,resident in the speedway wasteland of the USA, get no television coverage whatsoever. I watch, thanks to the internet, speedway in a variety of languages. Polish, Swedish, Danish being the main ones. I've watched streams in Norweigan, Ukranian, you name it. I take what i can get and am eternally grateful. When the tapes go up, the commentary is utterly secondary to the thrill of watching four guys racing. Whether we like it or not, our wonderful sport is a minority interest item, both to the public at large and to the television companies. We really should be grateful. I am! Regards. Alan.
