em1500uk
Well done Kyle! Sorry for being rather thick ( ) but is this qualification for the world U21 individual championship or something else?
iris123
No it is the European Junior competition.Always used to be U19s,but must have changed it.Although funnily enough i think in Denmark and Sweden they have had qualifications using U19s for theEuropean and U21 for the World comps.So.......it is speedway after all
em1500uk
Ah right. Thanks! I was somewhat confused there I didn't think there was a world U21 qualification round on today. That makes things clearer. As you say though, this is speedway (!) Still very good for GB. Good to see the young, up and coming kids doing well on the international scene. Would like to see it continue.
iris123
Yes and young Robert Lambert won an 'open' U21 meeting here in Germany yesterday against far more experienced riders as far as i know
em1500uk
Really? That's amazing, if true. I've seen Robert Lambert race a bit myself and he looks brilliant on a speedway bike for one so young. He certainly looks an exceptional prospect. I just hope he gets the support and financial backing he needs before he turns 16 and can get into the NL over here and beyond. It'd be criminal to let someone like him just fade away and let the talent go to waste!
iris123
Well i mean it is certainly true that he won.I am guessing a bit that all of the riders have more experience, because i don't know the history of all.but those i do know have been riding a fair while.I even think one or two might be over21 years old now.And Robert seems to have taken out a German licence so he can ride 500cc bikes here, rather like the Dryml brothers did years ago.And as far as i know ex World Champ Egon Müller was thinking of helping him out.Not sure if he actually is now though Here is the result of the meeting http://www.speedway.org/ergebnisse/2012/moowidamm/ergebnisse/index.html Edited May 6, 2012 by iris123

Got my wires crossed a bit there Thanks for providing the result. Very interesting indeed Never knew Robert was riding over in Europe. You really do learn something every day! PhilK
Robert Lambert certainly is a talent, it would never surprise me if he rode in Germany again next year and then goes straight into the PL Edited May 6, 2012 by PhilK
