BELIEVE it was Dave Hooper but will check later this morn trusting that you are not referring to 'Super Dooper' Johnny Hooper??? Many happy memories of that place - the only speedway track where I heard a speedway dad ensure his son was ready for action to come each week by uttering those immortal words, "Now you have remembered to have gone to the toilet now haven't you William?" Parsloes 1928 nearly
Slight change of topic. Last ever meeting at Crayford in October 1983... The Newcastle Diamonds number 7 was a J. Clayton...? Well according to my prog. but I can find no record of such a rider appearing for Newcastle that year... Was it possibly by chance, Clayton Isbel (a name I'd never heard of but have now seen mentioned in the stats)??

Gatwick Rocket
The Derek Cooper in 1981 was a midlands junior that rode at places like Birmingham and Long Eaton. He was related to Bob Cooper of 1970s Rye House fame.
