Mildenhall V Scunthorpe - N L - Sunday 6th May 2012

As I sit typing this the sun is shining brightly into the dining room!

Are we at last going to be able to get our league season underway?

We are due to welcome the current N L champions, and who can forget the classic meeting at Mildenhall last October ? Has there ever been a better meeting in the 3rd tier?

Scunthorpe are a much different side to last season, but in Max Clegg and Danny Phillips they could well have the next two in a line of young British talent to come off their production line. TheIr battles with our own young stars Josh Bates and Nathan Stoneman will be well worth seeing

Should be a cracker and following the main event The Complete Car Services Fen Tiger Cubs will ride against the Peterborough Thundercats in the AJL.

Lets hope the sun keeps shining!

Yes! The Scunthorpe home leg! ;)

Although both were great adverts for NL racing.

Scunthorpe kept the signing of Hart rather quiet!

I guess he was signed to cover for the possible unavailability of Worrall/Irving. Either that, or they have changed their minds regarding the whole youth development thing.

Oliver Greenwood broke his collarbone a few weeks back, so I guess he is rather doubtful, but you never know with these young kids.

Morley/Pickard/Sargeant probably look like the best available guests, and hopefully they'll move Clegg into the side too.

It's on the BSPA website today:

SCUNTHORPE have added Jerran Hart to their National League squad whilst Oliver Greenwood recovers from a broken collarbone.

Hart has recently joined the club’s Premier League team and the move enables him to get more meetings under his belt with Greenwood now set to be out for up to six weeks.

Saints boss Stuart Parnaby said: “I think it benefits all parties. It takes the pressure off our young lads at reserve, Danny Phillips and Max Clegg, who can just out and do their own thing, without worrying too much about how many points they are scoring.

“And once Oliver does return, it gives us options, because Jerran can ride when Stevie (Worrall) or Gary (Irving) are riding in the Premier League and vice versa.”

Is Richard Franklin still part of the Scunthorpe set up?

Could they not line up in no particular order

This should be a good close meeting , not sure how Cam will do though . He followed up his first NL max with a bit of a shocker at Ipswich last week . Hope it was just a blip in his season !

I don't think you can compare Heeps performances in the NL with those in the PL. Riders like Gjedde, Frampton etc are far better than he meets in the NL and a much harder test at such an early stage in his career. I am sure he will continue to pile up the points in the NL whilst learning his trade quickly in the PL. He is an exceptional young talent for sure

"With only eight riders allowed in each National League squad it is Richard Franklin - who would have rode for the Saints at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Easter Monday but for the intervention of the weather - who makes way for Hart."

Not aware of Mr Fenwick. can someone fil me in ?

I think he's bit of a regular at Scunthorpe's amateur meetings.

He came 2nd to Jerran Hart (and above Phillips) at the most recent Amateur meeting.

A recent regular you could say, only started speedway this winter i think, seems another one from the MotorX scene, looks a tidy rider considering the length of time he been on a speedway bike

That team is what the NL is all about, got a feel to it of the team that started out in 2010 and won league in 2011

Will be very interesting to see these guys develop

Hopefully they will keep faith with them Montie and give them a fair crack, same with Mildenhall with the two young reserves.

Anyone got any updates on the extent of Lewis's injury ? He has been going well so far this season . If as according to Chris Louis he may be out for a while Mildenhall can use anyone for rr I believe ?

From the Official Mildenhall website

Mildenhall Fen Tigers are likely to be without their captain Lewis Blackbird for at least the next six weeks. His lay-off follows his heavy fall in the KOC win at King's Lynn on Wednesday night.

Confirming the news, Fen Tigers' co-promoter Chris Louis revealed the extent of the injury. "Lewis dislocated his shoulder and in the end it was out for the best part of four hours. That meant he had to undergo an operation under general anaesthetic to have it put back into place. The doctors say the recovery time is weeks rather than days which is disappointing for everyone, not least Lewis. But he'll still be there in the pits helping the other lads and I'm sure he'll be back in the saddle as soon as possible. We'll operate rider replacement for Sunday's match against Scunthorpe, which will give the rest of the team an extra outing."

Sunday's clash with the Saints has become the Fen Tigers' first league match of the season, after the home and away matches with Buxton fell victim to the wet weather.
