Shadders
I read somewhere that the IOW had last been seen floating out into the English Channel, heading for France!

Oh dear does that mean the ferries will be even more exspensive due to the extra distance....

Jef
Now that we have taken Kyle Howarth as a replacement for Nick, what is the situation when/if Nick returns? Will we need to redeclare a team below the limit or can he just return to the team in place of Kyle?

Will we need to redeclare a team below the limit or can he just return to the team in place of Kyle? Don't panic! (As someone once said to Captain Mannering!) The club's management will cross that bridge when they come to it. Meanwhile, with Nick unable to really give a timescale on his recovery from his double wrist fracture, and the fact that Kyle couldn't really guest ad infinitum to replace him until Nick is back, Kyle was signed. As to tonight's meeting, rain has moved away, the Isle of Wight is still in place, tonight's meeting is ON - are you coming? If so, see you there! Yes I'll be there Bryn, the USA match was my first speedway for 4 years but the last 3 weeks seemed like an eternity, looking forward to it! Speedy fan
Hard luck to the Rye team. Without there number 1.The 3 youngsters Ben, Shane, James all coming back from injuries.Made of hard stuff this speedway riders!
Jef
An easy win in the end for the Islanders, Rye House clearly suffered having to use R/R for David Mason, very close for the first few races but once the Islanders had over come having no racing for 3 weeks it was very one sided. Kyle Hughes looks very useful with a paid maximum in his first match! Bryn, what was all the fuss about in heat 11?
speedyguy
The chances are that had David Mason not broken down en route to the meeting Rye House would have done enough to win on aggregate.
Bryn
The chances are that had David Mason not broken down en route to the meeting Rye House would have done enough to win on aggregate. Maybe, maybe not 'speedyguy' bearing in mind the aggregate scoreline over the two legs was 104-80. And as for heat 11 kerfuffle 'Jef', it would seem that James Sarjeant throttled off rounding first bend as he thought he saw the red lights come on and he thought race had been stopped. Red lights hadn't come on (maybe he caught sight of rear/brake lights on vehicle travelling towards clubhouse?) and you saw he cruised round back to the start line. Have some sympathy with him if that was the cas but what he shouldn't have done was then remain on the track on his bike leaving the ref no option other than to stop the race in the interest of safety disqualifying James as the cause of the stoppage. Jef
The chances are that had David Mason not broken down en route to the meeting Rye House would have done enough to win on aggregate. I doubt it but it would have been closer. I think it was lost on the first leg at Rye House. The Islanders were a bit rusty after 3 weeks with no home track time but after their first rides they stepped it up a gear, Mason would have scored more than the 3 gained from R/R but not enough to change the result. westhamboy66
To be honest i don't think David Mason would have made that much difference. Big disappointment was Ben Morley who must improve away from home if he wants a return to the Rockets line up. That said what on earth was going on in the refs box for heat 11? Were the entire box fast asleep? There were two not just one red lights. The first was from the centregreen camera man just prior to his flash then a car entering the stadium braked clearly seen by all in the stadium except those in the box obviously. As far as the rider was concerned Mr Sargeant simply pulled up at the tapes to try and attract the refs attention. Terrible decision and a raiders 8-1 wa a real possibility. Ruined the meeting and tore the heart out of the raiders. Why is it that there are always problems when this ref is in charge. Oh and surprise surprise the impartial announcer jumps to her defence. Oh well somethings never change. Well done to nicky lee by the way he showed a lot of fight Maybe, maybe not 'speedy-guy' bearing in mind the aggregate scoreline over the two legs was 104-80. Bryn
Not totally sure what has happened to your posting above 'westhamboy66' which seems to have got intertwined with my earlier posting! If you can sort out, then I'll do my best to respond to any points of yours that you are trying to raise. Edited May 2, 2012 by Bryn
Jef
From the stands and the viewing area of the pits you can see car lights from the car park but with the fence and banking on the first bend I'd be amazed if they were visable from the track, particularly the spot where James Sargeant slowed up. cityrebel
i sat in the stand last night just behind the tapes and saw both red lights, firstly on the camera and secondly the brake lights on the van in the car park. i fully understand james sargeant getting upset about the incident, but his actions during the race could have caused an accident, giving the ref no option but to stop the race.
