Rye House Select V Usa Future (int. Challenge, April 14th @ 7pm)

So you think bouncing around the IOW will in any way prepare them for the U21? At least your honest about the real reason, the hope 1 might get a break in the PL.

Re U21 prep - yes cos its a big track like IOW. Re PL - of course, thats the ultimate goal.

Am I right in assuming these USA teams are basically by invitation with riders funding their own costs, less money raised by donations etc in America? In other words riders - and there have been some good ones - who are prepared to make their own outlay on costs to visit the UK.

Meeting abandoned, cant say I'm to upset, I was sooooooooooo cold tonight.

Ben Morley had engine problem and appeared to lose power on 4th bend. Aaron Fox ploughed into him. Ben walked back to pits nursing a bad back and Fox spent about 30 mins on track being looked at by paramedics.

It appears Fox was knocked out and requires to be checked out at Hospital. County ambulance not available for at least 30 mins so track ambulance to take him. Len asked for show of hands to see if spectators wanted to wait for ambulance to return but by 6 hands to 2 hands it was decided by all the spectators to finish meeting and go home to warm up.

PS. Steve Boxall out on track during interval doing some practice laps. Anybody got any ideas where he's going to now ???

Hope all riders are Ok (updates say it was Black and not Fox in the crash? - mind you it also said there was no interval)

Doh, caught out again ))

It was Black and not Fox. Sorry to worry any friends and relatives of Aaron Fox.

When I say interval, it was a gap between heat 14 and Final Race.

But on the positive side Len said that Dylan Black was concious and talking to paramedics after crash and only went to Hospital as a precaution.

Last Rye House vs. USA match I saw there might possibly have been another since I missed..) was in April 2010 and the result was Rye House 47 USA 46...!!

Don't be silly. No one was taken in by the 2011 tag of Hackney....surely. There is also a slight difference between the likes of Shawn McConnell, Eddie Castro and the more raw kids likely to be seen tonight. Don't get me wrong I'm all for helping Foreign riders to get experience after all the Brit only NL does a great service for young Australians doesn't it.

The final score, a massive victory for the Raiders was slightly easier to to predict than the winner of the Grand National hence so many people chose to stay at home

Best wishes to the injured riders looked a nasty one from where i was sat in the upstairs bar

Just arrived home and pleased to report that Dylan Black is fine.

Myself and another tour member were at the hospital with him.

All checks to any back injury were negative and pleased to say after x-rays the only injury sustained is muscle tissue damage to his shoulder.

He cant remember much about the accident apart from looking up and seeing the pretty 'first aid' lady looking over him!

He is now dosed up with pain killers and when we left him at his host family house he was left with orders of getting to bed!

On behalf of the Touring Team we would like to thank all the medical and track staff for the superb way they supported us all tonight. Dylan's treatment was amazing and he is so very very grateful and the response from the staff and fans was also superb,

To the fan that came and gave me their name and number and offered us accommodation for the night we thank you so very much. What a fantastic act of kindness. And for all the messages on twitter and face-book - again thank you very much.

I would also like to add that we are so pleased that Ben got up and walked away and thank you to Ben's family for taking the time to check on Dylan when their attention could so easily have been focused 100% on their son. Hope he isn't feeling to sore in the morning.

So - we continue on to Buxton tomorrow with Rider replacement, but so very very pleased that Dylan will be with us at the track and not laid up in a hospital somewhere.

Good night all and thank you again - from Dylan and the whole of the USA Touring Team x

Very pleased to hear that all is well with Dylan, it was certainly a nasty looking accident. Good to see Ben Morley walk back to the pits too.

Phew, what a cold night though, more like winter than spring.

What a crazy situation with the hospital not sending an ambulance to the track until one of THEIR paramedics had checked to see if the Rye House medical people had assessed the injured party correctly. What an insult to the fully trained staff in attendance!!

Must say I was full of admiration for the way Len Silver handled the decision as to whether to abandon the meeting or not, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that put to the public vote before. Haha, another first was sending the track staff around on a pre-meeting truck parade, merrily waving away as if that's what we'd all come to see.

Nice also to see Laurence (Long John Silver) Rogers hobbling about on his crutches, I've never seen him move around so quickly in his life before.

Finally, good luck at Buxton this afternoon (I might still come up to the meeting if the guvnor fancies it....the meeting of course!!!!), and thanks to all involved with the USA party, for once again coming to these shores to entertain the few people that bother to go along and watch you, you deserve more.

Crazy indeed. But i expect that it's 'Elf 'n Safety guidelines. We have all read of crazy situations like people drowning in 3ft ponds while fireman/police cannot enter the water because of their guidelines. Or the case where 25 firemen turned up to help a trapped seagull in another 3ft pond but couldn't enter the water because of their guidleines. Then an ordinary man wearing waders went in rescued the trapped bird.

This incident regarding the American rider is another case in point. The 'Daily Mail' is keenly interested in this sort of thing - they carried the above items only on Saturday. They could be interested in this matter - phone their news desk to tell them. Sorry, I don't have their phone number.

That American rider could have been really seriously injured. I am pleased to hear that he is on the road to recovery.

Can I mirror what Sandie has said and say a big thank you to one and all at Rye House. Len, the ref and I along with Simon the Paramedic discussed what should be done. We were naturally first and foremost taking Dylan into account but also considering the crowd who had been so patient on a damn cold night whilst Dylan was treated. We also had in the thoughts the eight young lads from Milton Keynes and Coventry Mercia Vikings who at their own expense (THEY ARE NOT PAID TRAVEL OR POINTS MONEY AT ALL!) had travelled from all areas for the second half but with a minimum of 30 mins for a County Ambulance the correct decision was reached.

Finished editing the DVD of this meeting, and no matter how many times I see heat 15, it is amazing that both of these lads are ok, it really was horrific.

However, my job is to produce news stories, so the Mercury website, will show, heat 9!, the full match will be available next Saturday from the track.

As for the meeting, I think it would have been better if 2 more rookies were put in rather than Hawkins and Garrat who were miles apart from the rest..

Tom Bradock though, does look like he is improving with every ride, and could be a bonus come the important part of the season for the Raiders.

As per most tours before it, the 4th match is where the magical turnaround occurs. Whilst we understand how fans write us off when we get our usual beating in match #1, those who have been doing this for a while know that when the tour reaches its end we are usually a different team. When I was selecting the riders for this tour I was quite confident it was the best side in the last two years and after todays result at Buxton not sure anyone can argue.
