Its a pity but looking at the bigger picture stock cars at Lynn are arguably what has funded the speedway progressing from the safety of PL to the much more expensive situation of both EL and NL sides operating at the Norfolk Arena. The income from stocks is considerable, and with the rain we had over here yesterday I can only imagine what state the circuit is in today. Like I said a great shame for all concerned but one of those unfortunate things which doesn't really warrant one or two OTT posts on this thread.

I disagree. The USA team have come all the way from over the Atlantic to ride Speedway. Of course there's never a guarantee that there may not be rain -offs but this is not that is it.. Surely as there was this big car meeting on Easter Monday there should NEVER have been arranged a fixture for the tourists just 48 hours later...? Because clearly there was always this strong possibility that the track would as a result be unfit. That way the USA team could've arranged an alternative fixture. This way they lose one fixture entirely and I personally think it makes our sport look appallingly unprofessional.

Thats a fair point, but perhaps tomorrow night was the only date available which suited both parties? The situation must have been considered before the fixture was arranged as its in nobody's interests to call the meeting off like it has been if other dates were available. I dislike stocks as much as the next person but I'd suggest that without them there'd probably not be a Young Stars team in the first place.

I Must say I am at a loss to explain your comments parsloes. As a club we have supported the dream team and USA future teams for the last few years and held meetings at the Norfolk Arena. This weekend saw a huge amount of rain at the stadium resulting in track conditions that have not been seen for a long while.

This decision was not at all taken lightly and for you to say " In fact I can't easily recall a more embarrassing or damaging incident..

Truly and deeply, pi$$ poor disgraceful.. " amazes me quite frankly.

Riders safety is top of the agenda at all times and it was clear after the meeting on Monday that the damage was simply to bad to fix. Let me add that many many times in the past we have run stock car meetings close to speedway and it has never been a problem. Kings Lynn were voted as one of the best tracks in the country last season and Buster does a huge amount of work to make sure that continues but in this case the weather and the weather alone beat us.

We have seen far to many crashes and serious injuries already this season we do not want to add to that by racing on a track not fit, or perhaps even having problems as Belle vue did last week.

I look forward to seeing a team from the USA again visit the Norfolk Arena in the future but on this occasion the correct and only option was taken to postpone the meeting. As for touring team loosing fixtures that they could of filled we are the only NL track that runs on a Wednesday so sadly another team could not of taken that date anyway.

Best to try and ignore such comments.People work their guts out behind the scenes and then someone sitting behind their keyboard with no idea what has gone on, comes out with something like that.I notice we haven't seen any complaints from the US team/entourage.Whatever decision you make someone will put the boot in.But rider safety is of utmost importance in this oh so dangerous sport of ours.Quite an outrageous attack on a speedway promotion!!!!

Am acutely embarrassed on behalf of British Speedway that a car meeting on a track on a Monday can mean the cancellation of a pre-arranged Speedway meeting on a Wednesday involving a visiting side from overseas, who had - obviously - long pre-arranged this..

In fact I can't easily recall a more embarassing or damaging incident..

Truly and deeply, pi$$ poor disgraceful..

Really?????? Funny as post getting all upset  Grow up, these things happen. It has no affect on British speedway at all. There would be nothing worse than having both side turn up and have to have the meeting abandoned after 3 heats ala Belle Vue on Good Friday because of a dangerous track. Those situations embarrass British speedway but not this unforeseen problem

I never made any comment that the meeting should go ahead with the track dangerous... But that doesn't mean it's not highly regretable that this happened. I was once at Birmingham where there was a full stadium, it was dry and yet somehow they messed up track preparation and it was called off... Were the disgruntled fans trudging out of the stadiumI meant to say, ah well that's okay as rider safety comes first..? Of course it does, but it didn't minimise the fact that a mistake had been made.

Yes the weather was shocking on Sunday and that's no-one's fault but surely in hindsight it's clear a match two days later was going to be difficult and the fact that the visitors are one's who can't rearrange and have travelled so far should surely have been considered. There were, I'm sure, other options for the tourists if the NA had been ruled out early because of the problems of being so near to the massive Easter Monday Stocks meeting. All very well the usual suspects saying, "ah get over it" - it wasn't them (or indeed me) travelling from across the Atlantic!

And this is typical trouble-making... My posting is not in any way an "outrageous attack" and I've made no comment suggesting rider safety should be compromised. If anyone sits behind a typewriter sniping it's you... I actually spend so much time working on actually contributing to the sport I can't get to many meetings... Example tonight, print deadlines to meet so couldn't go to the IoW... What exactly do YOU contribute then from over there in Germany..?

Oh, and do you honestly think the US tourists are happy that this has happened..? I very much doubt that..

Oh typical. You come out with some outrageous statement and then start saying others are 'trouble-making' Okifyou want toget into what we contribute. How about the fact that Edinburgh goti n contact with me asking for ideas for a replacement forJonasson.Isaid get in contact with Kevin Wölbert. The reply was "he is too busy ....." But as luck would have it i had chatted to Kevins press guy a week or so before and he told me because the Swedish club he had signed for wasn't giving him any meetings he was looking for something else.Soi passed this on to Edinburgh and bobs your uncle......I'd reckon just on that alone it has contributed more to British speedway than your programme notes.I'd guess more people go to see Kevin than read your jottings ;) Guesshe has also generated more interest and value.....and there are another couplei have putin touch with clubs and are riding in Britain.Plus Mikkel B.Jensen used a few of my pics for his autogram cards forl ast season or Mikkel Michelsen used one over the winter for a sponsorship drive, one was used for the poster at a big meeting in Germany,etc.....and i have managed to bring along a few newbies over the past year or so.Only one of which will probably go to another meeting :icon_smile_clown: Not that i have to justify myself to you,but i hope that is ok.

Just try and engage your noddle before posting such damaging stuff. The US guys are trying to get some practice in before their assault on the world.King's Lynn are trying to run a business. As has been stated this has never happened before. It is just unfortunate.No-one can control the weather and i don't think it is likely that a big Bank Holiday car meeting will be cancelled because it might ruin the track for speedway.......Let's move on,not start slagging off the promotion for trying to make money by filling blank spaces in the calendar
