Dudley Heathen'sv Stoke Potters

Recommended Posts

I am in Willenhall not far from track really and there have only been a few short showers which have now stopped. It is cloudy but with a light wind ....so hopefully all ok.

Hope so as I have a sponsor coming to present Dan Greenwood with a cheque ...and Dan has some sponsorship sheets to hand out to show the various schemes available to back him from as little as 50p a point upwards ...

Any comments on the meeting? Seemed like 2 of stokes top 4 struggled and we still only lost by 4!

One of the Heathens top 2 also struggled Vog, and Stoke caught a break when their 2nd best rider on the night was able to come in as reserve sub twice for 2 minute exclusions. Stoke's use of a guest in this challenge also gained them a few extra points. Made it a bit closer than it would have been in normal circumstances in my opinion.

Quite an enjoyable nights racing and would of thought that a draw would not of been a bad result, or unfair result. Not sure we caught a break as in heat five when Ben came in he finished third and would of been last in Ash Birks had finished the race. The lad is a three pointer have ridden all last year to get it!! Our guest was also a three pointer and got 4 plus one, a reasonable return for a 3 point man. Who should we have brought in ?.Somebody who would roll over a give you the points. I think if all riders rode to potential we would of had a similar result as Jamie would of taken a few more points as would Ash on the Heathens side. Give praise to both sides for giving a show last night.

Comments Vog from a slightly biased Heathens view, first we dropped points when Dan Greenwood came down, IMO that was unfortunate Ben Reade could just as easily have been excluded for maybe taking Dans line., Ashley Morris had one of those nights, and Daryl Ritchings didnt seem his usual comfortable self, after he said he seemed down on power all night, JWW twice was overtaken from the back again his bike seemed welll slow early on, so i will take the positives from that, and see room for optimism from them, Boris, Tom Pom and Royno, all rode as expected, and there was some good racing especially from the latter two riders.

For Stoke, i would guess AB was slightly dissapointed with his points return, had one EF when leading, as was JP who had an up and down night, Tony again was probably disapointed with his return, just wasnt making any starts, OG scored up to his average, RW far and away your best rider, unluckily had some problem in i think his second race went from 1st to just holding on to 3rd, may have been a punture, good races between RW and AR and expect close races between these two whenever they are down to meet, DB IMO he is not up to NL Standard though his equipment shall we say, leaves a lot to be desired, on this performance cant see him lasting long, BR rider of the night for me, impressive, which about says it all for young Ben.

All in all a fair result, could have gone either way, is it enough of a lead ? i would like to think so, but on the other hand we could well get a good hiding like last year, or we could defend this narrow lead with Royno leading from the front, the reason i say that is I can see 5 riders in The Heathens Team who have room for improvement, and have the ability to do so, some more than others.

Unfortunatley Royno wont be leading from the front in the 2nd leg as i beleive hes riding for workington on that night, Also the fixtures show Somerset at Plymouth that night so i would imagine Tom wont be there either.

In which case thats pretty poor fixture planning, i will have to think twice about going myself, though i probably will, yes with a little bit more foresight we can probably cover for Royno, someone of the ilk of cameron heeps would do, but to cover for Tom with RR, that is just one to much, so i can only see a win for The Potters, or perhaps Stoke will use Adam Mckinna, and we will borrow Richie Worral to cover Royno. :D:wink: .

I will not get into an argument about this and we have broken no rules at all nor do we intend to.

Our initial declaration includes Adam McKinna. The teams we have selected for the two Challenge matches reflect how our team will be if/when we redeclare. Is that so hard? Would you not want entertainment at a certain level in challenge matches anyway? With Rhys unfit we included Oliver Greenwood as a thank you for riding in the Cup Final and he has never ridden at Monmore before.

The declarations on the BSPA website are not the official 1-8's. We have submitted ours. Other teams have not up to this morning despite reminders. We stick to the rules and requests you see. Others do not.

I do not have to state on here in advance what my future plans are. If you are clever enough and know the rules perhaps you can work them out and stop calling us cheats. That is not clever and we are most certainly not cheats. But I make no apology for looking after the inetersts of my Club. Would you wish for some alternative approach?
