JCookie
The way to cut out mediocre foriegners is to bring them all in on a 7 point minimum average ,,then just maybe promoters would start using british riders instead... But Jakobsen did come in on a 7 point average? And has still averaged more than Jerran Hart? He is better, that's why he's been signed. Super Blue
Jerran is only realistically a reserve at PL level at the moment mainly due to being very inconsistant last season at Ipswich , Would quite regularly win heat 2 convincingly and then follow that with falling off in 2 of his next 3 rides ( hence his low average ) He does have alot of potential , he just needs to calm down a bit . Islander15
Anyone going to the semi-final tomorrow & is able to text results for the updates site? Please PM me here or the updates site. Thanks
T.N.T.
Wouldnt count Joe Haines out of winning this one as he certainly knows the track well enough and has had a few spins around after meetings. Certainly deserves a break after his injuries over the last few seasons
crazysue
Still looking for a texter for this meeting, if anyone can help, can they send a message or either myself or Islander on this site, via the Updates site or if you know either of our mobile numbers, via a text to our phones. Thanks

Baldy
Well done to Marc: long overdue a chance to qualify for his first British U-21 Final - am delighted he's done it!! Head and shoulders best rider on the night. He looked good after his first couple of rides the other week at Stoke when he rode for I.O.W. He rode in fast times too. Impressed with the young man. Shadders
You need at least 5 hours to run a meeting like this considering the relative lack of rider skills on a track they don't ride regularly.
TMW
You need at least 5 hours to run a meeting like this considering the relative lack of rider skills on a track they don't ride regularly. I feel a bit of a fraud commenting as I was not there last night as I was taking in the thrils and spills of the Junior championship at Leicester where I have to say I witnessed some very mature heads on very very young shoulders but I think you hit the nail on the head there there does seem to be very limited practice opportunity for these tournaments in other countries I believe there is a full day practicing the day before EG the European U19's in sweden some supporters who went to this tournament and witnessed the level of practicing that took place before the tournament and the lads struggled to cope with this and make the best use of it as they don't get this opportunity in this country they go staright into the tournament. This should be made a w/end affair where the whole of saturday is used for practicing and the sunday for the tournament itself then you would also aleviate this problem of home track advantage. Gavan
I used to love the under 21 meetings when it was at eastbourne or wimbledon. But now and with no disrespect to the riders who are there but it just shows how far back british speedway has gone. I remember a line up of Loram, Screen, Louis, Dean Standing, Barker, Norris, M Dugard, P Dugard, B Howe, Clouting, Lanham, Nicholls, Stonehewer, Wilson. Is there anyone in the field that could live up to a lot of the aforementioned riders i know some didint go on to achieve much but at the time good quality riders. im sorry but as i see it it highlights that below Nicholls Harris and Tai there is nothing coming through

Al those riders you mentioned had to start somewhere I believe Greg Hancock was a slow burner
Speedy fan
Anyone got any news on how the poor lads are that got injured? Hate to think of the cost of all the bent bikes in the meeting.

Marc certainly looked good last night but i wouldnt say head and shoulders the best rider on the night, Both Tom and JJ looked quick and its a shame we didnt get to see heat 17 when all 3 of them would have met. Tsunami
Gavan All very well and easy quoting a field of riders, now knowing what progress they did make in the sport. You would be very surprised at the qualtity, and quality, of some of the kids who are approaching rider team age. We have a great crop coming through, better than we have had for a long time. Let's hope Phil and Neil, assisted by the BSPA funding, are allowed to continue to grow the careers of these kids. The future is looking quite good.

He was almost a sec faster than anybody else last night. All his wins were in the 63-64 seconds range. Nobody broke the 64 sec barrier apart from Marc. That was what I was using as my yard "Mark" for the night and his riding style. I agree that heat seventeen would of been a cracker and I was certainly not saying others did not do well. With my involvement with training schools and watching these kids, I am more than hopeful for the future. Look at Danny Philips from Middlesbrough, Max Clegg of Sheffield and Josh Bates, the first 2 are 15 year old and are the reserve partnership at Scunny NL team and Josh is in at Mildenhall. Saw a lot of these kids last year at Buxton Youth Training day for U15, and you would be very impressed with them as riders as well as young men. Unfortunately this years day was postponed last Tuesday and I had two riders down aged 15 and 7 year olds.
