No problem with BSI making money from a commercial perspective, but let's not pretend it's for the good of global speedway...

Monster is obviously growing in terms of brand recognition, and is probably fairly well known amongst the extreme sports fraternity. I wouldn't put it in the league of Coca Cola or even Red Bull though, and I bet if you went down the local and asked for 'Monster' the chances are you'd get a blank look...

I think you'd find that you could go into most pubs and get a Monster. I think as companies go, they're pretty big.

Also agree it's bloody horrible stuff, as is Relentless and Red Bull.

I can't believe some people are being negative about a major global brand being brought into the sport.

People, we HAVE to get young men interested in speedway again or it is going to die. It is a shame for those who think George Formby is cool but it HAS to happen.

now that is asking to much

That's what us British Speedway fans have to hope for out of this "Monster" announcement ......... as Greg Hancock would say

Does anyone actually drink "Monster" then .................. how can they keep sponsoring motorsports without any sales?

dont really think it will help domestic speedway or intice more youngsters to take it up.sad but true. speedway is not cool for young kids. will benifit sgp no doudt no end and is really good for them in long term, just depends if there generally up umm selves useless staff stuff it up for them.

people do drink it, even my little boy does unless i catch him. over two billion dollars in sales per year and fast growing.

Just think of the excitement on here if PG Tips and Werther's Originals had sponsored speedway.

Pg Tips? I drink that less than I drink Monster. Tesco Value Tea for me!

I don't get the moaning either tbh, as sponsor go it's pretty big and Monster don't just tend to pump cash into things, they bring in big marketing teams and play the dnager aspect - something speedway needs to do.

This is the reason I'm so excited about this. You only need to look at other sports that they have helped to see what a difference it has made.

Trust me when I say, at the end of 2012, we will have an audience much, much larger than today, and the average age of supporters will plummet, which we so desperately need.

Monster is massively influential to younger people - that's where they have the edge over rival companies such as red bull and relentless.

Monster has this 'aura of cool' about it, it's a different marketing spin on the other 2 companies - trust me it'll bring lots of younger people into speedway, providing they market it correctly of course.

yes and no, yes popular with kids and teenagers and great brand for motorsport ;) no, dont think will bring younger people in. not to uk speedway anyway. speedway in the uk is far from cool no matter who sponsors it

the presentation of sgp will be great with monster on board, far better than the drab bsi one we have had the last few years. 4 normally ugly polish pole dancers twiddling a brolley :o

The chance of any GP in the US will depend on the usual criteria ie BSI finding somebody to put up the money and shoulder the risk,as was the case in the past in Australia and this year in New Zealand. Can,t think of too many names Stateside that jump to mind, maybe BSI could approach their new friends,Monster Energy.

your right, a gp in the states would be great but as you say the bsi wont fund it like most events. with the right people and advertising would be well supported and make cash, however it could very well lose a lot so bsi wont want to take the chance without a backer.
