Guest Paul Fearnley
Hello there. My name is Paul Fearnley and I am, for my sins, the editor of Motor Sport magazine. I am trying to track down Jon Erskine, ex-Neath, ex-Long Eaton. I must admit that I have a four-wheeled reason for doing so. Sorry! His father Mike, as well as building very fine speedway bikes, also dabbled in racing cars for the 500cc formula of the 1950s. I would like to put together a story about these cars and was wondering if Jon was still around – he seemed to survive some pretty big accidents! – and whether he had any information on the cars. In 1956, one of them was driven by a guy called Trevor Taylor, who ended up becoming Jim Clark's F1 team-mate at Lotus. Trevor survived some monster shunts, too. I realise that this is a long shot, but… Thanking you in anticipation. Paul F
dickiemint
Until last season Jon was a regular at Newport but has since moved back to Somerset. He may have moved back to the family home. He was last seen at a Somerset meeting. His son I believe lives in Newport.
