I dont think I am the only one who thinks its a waste of good ice when you could be curling Anyone going with it being the last ever one? Anyone know who the last 3 riders are? I know its got its critics but its a fun day out and people shouldnt take it too seriously. Its a good laugh when you have people like Atkin, Smolinski etc playing up to the crowd. That at the end that is what the event is about, racing wise you get very little. Also you get 'the smell' wafting all round the rink, the first time I went I was a bit overcome but now I love it . You can never beat the smell of Methanol especially after 4 months of being deprived of it!! . I want Smoli to win it this year but I expect Atkin to be the man to beat. As much for meeting up with friends from all over the country as the racing. A good social gathering that indicates the main season is just round the corner. See you there. I dont think I am the only one who thinks its a waste of good ice when you could be curling I went to a few of them but after they kept re-running heat 20 a few years ago to ensure Wayne Broadhurst won and not Phil Morris I refuse to go. Expensive day out for a bit of fun... We went for the first and last time around 4 years ago and worked out that it'd cost the two of us almost £150 for the day, including admission, fuel and food/drink! You always know the season is around the corner when Telford comes around so im always a little excited. Plus a good chance to catch up with friends. Racing has got a little more processional as some riders are clearly better than others at it. I prefer the afternoon to the evening also as the evening is much more serious and processional. This year they've really pulled out the stops, the riders on show are great and it should be a fantastic day. I booked 2 seats yesterday and there were very few left so hopefully it'll be a bumper crowd. I can't wait!!! Methanol, get in my lungs!
