Shane Parker Farewell 18th March 5pm

Good point on facebook from Steve Pearce regarding opening back straight for this meeting, I think it's a must, even if numbers are limited, viewing is much better there than the gently sloping home straight, which when full, offers relatvely poor viewing, particularly for kids & shorter people..

Back straight can't be opened for health and safety reasons. Plus all the railings have gone now

Tell me about it . When Glasgow won 46-44 with that famous heat 15 5-1 from Jason Lyons and Shane Bowes over Neil Evitts and Peter Carr in 1991 , my eldest daughter was 10 at that time and couldn't see on the home straight . I spent the whole of that meeting with her on my shoulders . I was exhausted leaving Owlerton that night , though very happy .

People are quite able to stand without railings to lean on, there are none around the rest of the stadium !

Last time it was opened I think it was restricted to 750, which would at least relieve the pressure on the rest of the stadium.

Another thing, where are all the visitors cars to be parked ? carpark only holds enough for a league match.

Just for you Main Man.... http://sports.websho...sNNsAb?start=24

I recall that was the day Gordon Pairman was drooling at the mouth over Stefan Ekberg's body!

Anj/Shane if there is naked riding on show can I get my request in now please? :P

I have just seen this - and anyway, replying to it is my way of bumping this topic! I accept that the words I used about Stefan were old people's speak, but then, as my daughters point out, I am old. When I commented on how "fit" Stefan looked, I was particulalry referring to the toned nature of his back muscles.......goodness woman, he and I are both married men. What are you suggesting? Drooling, indeed

Unfortunately the younger generation speak differently to the older Generation nowadays Gordon. When we discribe somebody as fit it means a totally different thing in youngters speak. I say bring back the 80's, Er, thats the Decade i mean. :D

Selective memory Mr P! I seem to remember comments like 'look at the muscle tone, what a great body he has' lol

Anyhow, just be grateful I haven't dug out the start girls photos...... :P

Will there be a repeat performance on the start line for Shane's farewell meeting or is there something else in the pipeline? I refuse to believe it will be along the 'norm'!

Have the admission prices been announced for Shane's day yet?

I can't remember the concession/kids prices Lioness but I did read over on the Sheffield Speedway facebook page in the last few weeks that adult admission is only £15 :)

Thanks tigerblues, cheap at half the price as my dad would say! Actually I never really understood that phrase lol. Great value though :t::D

Now I am even more confused lol

I think I should just have stuck with 'looks great value at £15 with 2 world champions included in a high quality field' lol

don't you start! lol

They are going to plant tatties in the field aka the centre green lol

A high quality group of riders! Got it this time! Its still great value (even without the tatties :icon_smile_clown: )
