stratton
I cant see beyond Crump,Hancock,or Gollob to be world champion in 2012? i go for Crump with Holder to improve greatly what do others think.?
richiej95
I think this will be Hampel's year. I agree about Holder as well. I predict the following: 1st Jarek Hampel 2nd Emil Sayfutdinov 3rd Tomasz Gollob 4th Chris Holder 5th Andreas Jonsson 6th Greg Hancock Edited December 24, 2011 by Jonesy the Wolf
Parsloes 1928 nearly
My god, how the sport needs it to be Hampel, Sayfutdinov or Holder winning the title - preferably a battle going to the wire between the three of them... ProperSport
I think Hampel will win it this year , Gollob , Crump , Herbie and Johnsson to push him
lucifer sam
So now you're ageist then? Will this discrimination ever end? Parsloes is the last person I'd expect to be ageist, given his close links with perhaps the most entertaining rider to ever grace the third tier, Buzz Burrows. Buzz was great value, but was very old for a third tier rider. It makes his take on Hancock in the GPs all the more perplexing. If Greg is good enough, then he's young enough. Cj69
Hard to see past the old guns being up there towards the end the have the advantage of being more mentally and financially stable to last the whole season. But think Sayfutdinov and Holder will make progress again this season hopefully the first hitting the form he did a couple season ago, for some reason i dont think hampel will be in the top 3 this year. Crump Herbie Holder Jonsson Sayfutdinov Gollob Hampel These will be in the top 8 who will win is anyones guess at the moment. The rest wont even get close maybe the odd final or even win but will again be same old same old.
LagutaRacingFan
AJ will bottle it. Holder is not good enough I reckon it will be a battle between Gollob,Hancock,Emil and Kenneth Bjerre.

What a surprise Kenneth Bjeere is one of your picks he wouldn't have been your choice when he was riding for Lynn last year Edited December 26, 2011 by 5 FURROW
george.m
My prediction is : 1. Hancock 2. Hampel 3. Jonsson Herbie won by the proverbial country mile this year and I suspect he has plenty left in the tank to do so again. Also he has the experience to not get distracted with extra meetings, etc as so many world champs have in the past. He also has the experience to keep out of trouble on track and thereby avoid injuries. Hampel looked good this year and I reckon he'll push Herbie. AJ was the form man towards the end of the season, but he doesn't have the consistency, as seems to do better when there is no pressure. having said that, I'd like to see him win as on his day he is a great entertainer. Parsloes 1928 nearly
Personally I'd be very surprised if Greg retained the title. A bit like Gollob the year before (though obviously there was the difference in that for Greg it was the unlikely dream of a second crown which inspired his 2011 efforts, for Tomasz it was that elusive first title) the effort of such a monumental season will be difficult at his age (sorry to mention the 'a' word!) to maintain... People can be fans of these older riders (I myself couldn't have been happier that Gollob finally won the year before last...) but surely anyone can see that for the benefit of the future of the sport a battle royale between young guns would be far better for us all... And don't know about anyone else but a Russian world champ at last is what I'd like to see!
Blazeaway
AJ's year next year IMO. Would love him to win it, unless Nicki can pull off a miracle. Crump to drop out of the top eight.

No i personally dont think he is good anough,Jonsson ,Holder,[Ward[big call have more chance of winning title in next three years? If he does it would be good for the sport. AJ's year next year IMO. Would love him to win it, unless Nicki can pull off a miracle. Crump to drop out of the top eight. Bet on it ,no way Crump unless injured will be out side of top 8. T.N.T.
Never write off Herbie or Crumpy, but I can see Emil Sayfutdinov, Jarek Hampel and Andreas Jonsson being the main contenders with those two with Gollob, Lindgren and Holder the next three in the leaderboard ..... If I had to pick one it would be Hampel who I backed last season to take the title also.
JCookie
It will more than likely be the same contenders as ever, Hancock/Gollob/Crump will be up there, Hampel/AJ if they can continue their improvement from recent years will also be fighting. Nicki P is a funny one, might well have one last go at it but I think top 6 chance is more realistic. After those, Holder/Bjerre did well last season so might well carry that on and then it will be the likes of Lindgren/Harris/Lindback fighting for the lower down placings. mickthemuppet
No way will Jarek Hampel be World Champion next year. Although one of the fastest starting riders at the moment in GP's he has too many races when he is asleep at the start. It will always help him with the slick tracks but they are not going to be all like that.. When you get a deep track he is not the same rider

superguest
Would love Jarek or AJ to clinch a title. Can't say Greg does anything for me, but fairplay to him for 2011. An outstanding year in general, not just the SGP. I'm gonna predict.... 1. Hampel 2. Emil 3. AJ 4. Hancock 5. Gollob 6. Holder 7. Crump 8. Pedersen So to answer the orignal question, yes I think the 'Old guard will start to slip in 2012'. But they'll all be in the top 8.
Ghostwalker
I dont think Greg will win it again in 2012 simply since since 1995 only two riders have managed to win two consecutive titles. T-Rick (1998-1999+2001+2002) and Nicki (2007+2008) but like most others i think we'll see the same top 8 next year as this year but not necessarily in the same order.
