Me being an old fella ?living in the past what are peoples memories of this great meeting?Never saw the mighty Briggo win any of his six.My first b.l.r.c was in 77 great meeting Olsen awesome beat Mauger from the back then defeated Collins[not fit].Some of the footage on you tube really worth a watch.Went to one of Carters wins and 1983,a rainfest supported Lee he got filled in in his first race comeback and got on the rostrum.Later on in the 80s see Nielsen win and Morton also.Loved Hyde rd was a pleasure to go there and it says something when Jason Crump said it was a big regret of his not ever riding there. My biggest memory there though was the Mauger celebration meeting 6 in a race what a site Nielsen was exciting changed my mind about him being just a trapper.Hyde Rd was a great place have you others got good memories or bad ones of the legendary Hyde rd.

Hyde Road was brilliant. I was taken to my first meeting there in September 1952 at the tender age of 6 weeks. My parents were avid fans and I can't remember us missing many meetings in my early years. It had an atmosphere all it's own, I've never come across anything like it anywhere else. The crowds were huge and the stands used to shake when the fans got excited, which was just about every week as the racing was second to none. The BLRC was the meeting of the season and if you hadn't bought your ticket in advance, you had a long wait in the huge queues that formed outside the stadium. No particular meeting stands out for me as they were all good in my book. The new stadium has got a lot to live up to.

Great post, i went there first time in 1977, got there the track amazing, great shape everything i went in the stands fourth bend. It was electric and later on in years when i come back for meetings i always went on the fourth bend.A great track but for me a great day out.

My first was in 1978, Olsen beating Collins to win it. Other memories are surprise wins for John Louis and Les Collins in 79 and 80 respectively and Kenny Carter stopping in one heat as he thought he saw a red light(1980 again), Scottish Junior League winners being presented with their league winners medals and firework displays after Stuart Bamforth took over

The BLRC was a good day out from King's Lynn, where the racing was truly secondary. It was about the whole experience. We would leave King's Lynn at about 09:00 in the morning on the coach. Stop at Worksop for some 'lunch' and then head to Belle Vue. Once at there we would go for some 'evening sustenance' before going to the BLRC. Once the BLRC had finished it was off around the fun fair, and then onto the Disco's that were around and about. The coach left at 2AM and we usually got back to King's Lynn around 7AM. The thing was, with a day like that most of us on the coach couldn't remember much about the speedway apart from the truly annoying centre green presenter (Dick Barrie ?)
