PhilK
Well I dont believe it!...Stoke you theiving lot! Must say thats put me off the N/L ...Its bad enough trying to get with this midland developement league in half time. How do you expect fans to get behind teams. When riders are all over the place.? RUBBISH!..........Are we to believe then that all N/L teams can operate a squad of riders? How come fans aren't told of any new rules, thats the least we expect. ! What! I truly cannot believe some of the rubbish that gets posted on this forum!! As frostylion states it is a challenge fixture! Rhys Naylor I read is recovering from a shoulder injury so Stoke have drafted in young Greenwood! Surely that makes more sense than R/R or using one of their Midland Junior League squad before they are ready? If I was a paying fan tonight I would be pleased with the option Stoke are taking. As Montie correctly points out, surely it is good news that greenwood is being given as much chance as possible to ride? The only possible negative I can see would be if Greenwood took a knock tonight and missed any Scunthorpe fixtures, but as Rob Godfrey and the lad himself are ok with it then fine. My only question with Stoke is over the Adam McKinna signing and where he fits in, but I would suspect that the Speedway Star copied the BSPA site and got the Stoke 1-7 incorrect I thought it was Birks, Pickard, Atkin, Naylor, Worrall, Reade and Berwick. Which is below the limit of 40. Edited April 3, 2012 by PhilK
jamebabes1
It really shouldn't matter, rules are rules. Be so much different if it were the other way round. You missed one builderbob as Stokes starting marshal has on more than one occasion forgot how to count to 4 and waved the chequered flag on 3 laps.Too busy talking
builderbob
if the stoke riders are used to 3 laps thet wont like the iow with 5 lap les as starting marshall Edited April 3, 2012 by builderbob
speedibee
if the stoke riders are used to 3 laps thet wont like the iow with 5 lap les as starting marshall Stoke need to run a squad system so theres always the likelyhood of a team place , that way they can gets loads of riders to come to a day of opportunity at £35 a time to try out for a team place which has already been allocated to a rider who is not in the meeting
greyhoundp
Its a Challenge <yes> is it a Challenge to see how far we can bend rules, is it a Challenge to see if Stoke can win?, There is winning, and winning,Oh and while Im at it theres Whining, Yes i am whining before, not after the meeting, but is Winning at ANY cost the motive here ?, Yes i Know Rhys is injured, Stoke already have a competitive Top 4, so the meeting will be competitive, in any case, but to use another Teams rider, when there are youngsters desperately looking for rides,? There is only 1 explanation, win, win, win, win, win,. shame on you, yes I hope you are Proud of yourself. I too would like a clear statement on how Adam fits in to all this. I know he is unattached but don't think you can just have a rider standing around for when your main riders are riding elsewhere. I don't like what we have done there even if it's within the rules. On the Oliver situation I cannot see a problem. Rhys is injured on a three average and there is a young, developing rider on a 3 average who is taking his place. I hear some unattached rider on a three should of taken this spot; well looking at the lads who tried out at Loomer rd, there wasn't anybody who was up to the mark and ready to be competitive against the Heathens tonight; and to be honest I want to see competitive riders giving it a go and Oliver is competitive. I too thought it wrong of Stoke to hold a meeting for places if one was already spoken for; although there was talk of Danny Stoneman being offered the place Rhys got( who rode on the day, Dan not Rhys) but was not suitable for him. Thought Danny looked ok for the IOW and hope he has a good season down there. For me it's not a case of Stoke winning at all costs, just a case of sending a team that have riders able to race close to the Heathen riders. I may be a little strange but I'm looking as much forward to see Adam R ride tonight with his start to the season and the battles from the other Heathen lads against the top Stoke lads and if the racing is good and Adam R/Tom P or whatever wins the race and I'm entertained with close racing I'm ok because it's what I pay my money for. Hoping for a Stoke win with safe racing for all the lads. Edited April 3, 2012 by Steeplejack
teddy2706
If Ollie Greenwood rides like he did on Saturday spectators are in for a treat, the lad was flying! He is English, not a dubiously legal Australian and it isn't going to affect league aspirations. What's the problem?
greyhoundp
After all the Chatter, it wont make any difference cuz theres only ONE speedway Team in The NL in Staffordshire, and it aint The Clayheads Its the Team from Monmore Wood, and the Team who,s gonna win tonight, thats right guys, its the Heathens. Also I am told the BSPA have introduced a new piece of equipment specially for meetings at Stoke the riders have to wear Miners Lights on there Helmets, so as they can see where they are going. lol. and Tatum can save on his electric bill. builderbob
Heathen 1984. yes i accept you probably do have best rider in league, (not sure i am happy about a elite league rider riding in the national league) but fair play to dudley its all above board. You also have an excellent rider in Tom Perry. Sto ke have two very good riders in Ritchie and Ashley. Kings lyn iow and mildenhall are strong throughout, and buxton look a fair side. Title could well be down to the reserves coming good. Hope its not decided by injurys. lookin like being a realy good season
Heathen1984
Bob richie worral rides elite league with lakeside as a double up reserve so dont see the difference really. Yeh could be several teams up there this season but as u say hope injurys dont play its part.

Gas lighting would be a dramatic improvement at Loomer rd unfortunately, far better than no lighting which spectators enjoy now! Joking apart, that electrical system at Stoke will kill someone unless it is addressed and fast. Most of the Black Country was in Staffordshire and in my opinion still should be, although I have heard it said Staffordshire was a lot colder than West Midlands! If not affecting league aspirations is the whole point wouldn't matter if he was Mongolian or from anywhere else would it Sparky. Kev So long as he was legally able to ride in the UK, no it wouldn't matter. I think that Rais Mustaphin was from Mongolia and he was a really exciting Ice Racer. Or am I deliberately missing your point?
