Gp Qualifier Berwick 16/6

Recommended Posts

BSPA website reports covers have been laid on bends to deflect rainfall onto grass.

Even their sternest critics will have to praise the promotion for what is being done at Shielfield Park to stage this meeting.

No doubt about that, the promotion are doing all they can to get this meeting on,I hope their hard work will be rewarded.

I have just got to the hotel here in Berwick for the weekend and the Quali. Weather not good at the moment, windy rain and river looks close to bursting its banks! Roll on tomorrow and fingers crossed with the weather.

Welcome to Berwick. :approve:

Sadly the forecast for tomorrow is none to clever, the rain we have had all day today will continue through the night.Tomorrow morning will be dull with rain, heavy at times, tomorrow afternoon will be dull with the rain not quite as heavy. The track has been covered which might just save the day,but it would be a gamble to start a meeting where theres no guarantee that it would finish, especially when your asking fans to pay extra.

Thanks Screm, this is my second visit as last year I came up to see Berwick v Ipswich. I have got a couple of Bandit friends and so when heard of the GP Quali meeting thought have to go up for this.

I see the weather looks better Sunday, showers but getting drier and sunny periods later so maybe if tomorrow is going to be like that then peg it back 24 hours.

Might be an idea to pop over to Holy Island in the morning and say a few prayers for some fine weather, you never know it might work (get back before the tide comes in though) ! Enjoy yourself up here, you could do worse than a visit to Bambugh Castle and the chippies in Seahouses for a snack. Don't worry about the river, it was high tide at lunchtime !

How many qualify?

I think Harris, Watt and Sundstrom should top that lot (if Woffinden doesn't ride).

Masters as an outsider, will either get 4 or 14.

Berwick is grey, cold and spasmodically lightly drizzling right now.

Track is firm and dry under covers.

If it isn't raining heavily at 7pm it'll be on, for sure -- the FIM don't mess around!

I was at Rye House for a World U21 semi final around 4 years ago, I think it was Emli Sayfutdinov's first appearance over here... It was raining steadily for most of the morning, the track was a mess, wet and greasy. There is no way there would've been a regular meeting on it, but somehow they allowed the meeting to start bang on 2pm. Conditions were awful and the early heats were follow my leader, riders getting filled in and left half blinded by wet shale. Then it stopped raining and the racing slowly improved. Thats when Emli took over!

If the track is rideable the meeting will do ahead, although it may not be raceable!

If this meeting is cancelled which i hope its not is there a restaging date ???

Re-staging for this meeting will be tomorrow, hopefully the Berwick Council will have given the go ahead.

To be honest it looks like Berwick will do everything they can to get this meeting on tonight. The corners have been under cover with the straights left bare, whether practice goes ahead as planned at 11-30 this morning might be doubtful,as it has drizzled most of the night.

Right now its dull, misty and damp, there is very light drizzle falling.

That'll be the sheep panicking ahead of the after meeting party.

Absolutely, though some of us can panic the sheepies more than others.
