A ORLOV
With the first few heats at both the GPs to date needed to sort out the track, would it be a good move to have the reserves and or a few good young riders racing on the track, say for four races, before the main meeting starts. I seem to remember I saw some youngsters racing at one of the meetings at Cardiff but cannot recall if they went out before or during the main meeting. Apart from the first few heats a very good GP, lost a few pounds on AJ, but congratulations to Chris Holder.
pandorum
I wonder if the people who usually whine about how boring GPs are hung around long enough to see the final? Hell of a race to end a pretty entertaining GP. Congrats to Holder for doing something totally unexpected and winning such an awesome final race. The Polish fans can be forgiven as they expected a Polish 1 2 as did, I imagine, everyone watching. I think Emil wants to chuck his experimental engine in the bin. A Chris Harris surely has to have run out of any goodwill GP Pick wise as that is 2 on the trot that he has stunk out. Maybe he should follow Emil about and see where he chucks that engine as he has obviously wasted 20 grand on the ones he has. I would love to see him winning GPs but he is clearly not good enough sadly.
stratton
Did people think Gollob, made some bad mistakes in the final? or not he must be scratching his head today wondering how he didnt win the final.
Kester
I concur with much of what you say, Steve, however, I don't think Holder's pass on Gollob had anything to do with them "knocking 5 bells out of each other". Holder clearly noticed that Gollob was carrying far too much speed into the corners, he was struggling to keep the momentum going coming out of the bends and Holder said "thank you very much"! Agree, was a great example of brains more than brawn.
mickthemuppet
Great GP and well done Chris-Last to First in the Final Did notice there were quite a few gaps in the crowd, so meeting was not a sell out.

PHILIPRISING
Good GP once we had run a few heats, not sure Olsen should be in charge of track prep as it wasn't good to start with. Nice to see Holder win and an excellent Final, interesting to see a Hampel and Gollob fall out, didn't appear Gollob was to happy with the outcome or the fans reaction. OLE Olsen has absolutely nothing to do with track preparation at permanent venues. Considering how hot (over 80) and very sunny it had been during the day the Leszno guys managed to produce a good track, with inside and outside racing lines, although the surface material there is very strange. Great GP and well done Chris-Last to First in the Final Did notice there were quite a few gaps in the crowd, so meeting was not a sell out. BIG stadium, holds around 25,000, but high ticket prices and lack of decent accommodation in Leszno didn't help. Their crowd for first home league match this year was 11,000.... just (eat your heart out British clubs) 7,000 for the second Two things from this meeting. How unsporting are the bloody Poles,Holder wins the meeting and his victory is greeted by whistles and boos.So the Polish riders didnt win, thats speedway. And Charlie Webster needs a good feed. WHISTLES and boos were aimed at Gollob not Holder. Leszno crowd didn't like his attitude towards their own hero Hampel.
pawel115
Like Philiprising said boos and whistles were aimed strictly at Gollob I read lots of polish speedway forum posts most polish fans were discusted by it as they didnt see Gollob riding unfairly but since Hampel rides for Leszno locals didnt like that pass at the end of the heat. ziggyman17
Great win for Holder.. Along with Darcy Ward they could become the main riders in years to come.. Poor Chris Harris, another bad start to this years GPS, put a lot of money into his engines too this year, a bad season and I don't think he'll be back next season.. severnsider
Generally only Gollob produced good racing at Bydgoszcz for the last few years. Must better racing at Leszno, Torun & Gorzow (null)

So why does Poland have 3 when they can't fill up the first one? Oh yeah, theres noone as foolish in the UK as the Poles to had over piles of cash to BSI/IMG. Polish speedway is slowly replicating its British equivilent in that it is losing fans and upping admission costs to compensate and getting into the spiral that creates. The bubble of Polish speedway has already burst and a year or two will see it implode
BigFatDave
I managed to avoid Facebook and Forum to enjoy the GP yesterday arvo - what a ripper. Great to catch up on the thread and see very few complaints about the racing or the track, while those who did whinge got it wrong - as usual. Quite simply this was one of the best GP's I've ever seen.
pandorum
WHISTLES and boos were aimed at Gollob not Holder. Leszno crowd didn't like his attitude towards their own hero Hampel. That's a surprise. I thought they were heckling Cris H. Hampel may be their darling but he has a long long way to go before he can even be fit to clean the boots of The Master. Maybe this will give someone else a chance at SWC.....but I don't hold out too much hope of that. They will kiss and make up. There is always a nearly man in world championship speedway. Leigh Adams a famous example. Maybe young Hampel will become the new one. Hope it's not Emil as I wanna see him win the damn thing. I would also love to see Chris Harris make the podium at the end of the season but he will be lucky if he makes the top 15.
Robcozz
Well back at work today and not feeling 100%, that Polish beer is good stuff ! Dave_minall
Speaking of Harris, did anyone notice why his bike failed on him the second time around? if you watch the replay you can clearly see before it packed in that his timing cover was hanging off - when this departed from the engine it died. I hope Harris kicked some serious arse for that, that's a huge failure on the mechanics part. Then again I assume it was the mechanics who did it. We all know Gollob does his own timings during a meeting.

The Know
CHRIS failed to score in three rides for his Polish club on Sunday ... really is in the doldrums at present. PHILIPRISING
LET'S not forget that there are only two Polish riders (plus a wild card on Saturday) in the 2012 series. However, bit early to declare Polish speedway to be on a slippery slope. Torun and Gorzow will be sell-outs and a GP in Warsaw next year is very much on the drawing board. Gollob is an almost impossible act to follow but there are undoubtedly some genuine talents coming through ... Dudek, the two Pawlicki brothers, Janowski and so on. Much sporting attention in Poland will obviously focus on the Euro soccer championships in June but, unlike the UK and indeed Denmark and Sweden, there remains massive media interest in speedway.
