richiej95
Announced that Darcy Ward and Chris Holder have both signed for Torun. My link That will mean he can't ride in GP's, so pretty much confirms he has rejected the wildcard! Bad for speedway and the GP's that Poland continues to rule the sport. Grachan
To be fair to Poland they are just doing a similar thing to the UK with the one rider over 8 rule, but using GP riders as the guidline instead. This is more a personal choice by Darcy Ward than anything if it does mean he is rejecting the GPs.
richiej95
The UK is different though because we don't pay the big money they do in Poland. Pepe is doing the same things, and Zagar has allegedly turned down a wildcard. The GP should be the ultimate series in speedway, yet the Polish league is still in control due to money
Dave_minall
Darcy's been one clever shrew during this whole shenanigan. I think he will have used the GP as a negotiating point for bigger earnings in Poland and then accepted an inflated offer. No doubt he'll make more doing this than riding in the GP. Trees
Bad for speedway and the GP's that Poland continues to rule the sport Oh come off it, BSI rely on Polish people and Polish companies when it comes to financing their baby ............. Grand Central
nice words dave ,see what happens 2013 Yes ... There's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip ... to turn down the invitation now in the hope that a future opportunity will arise so easily is a gamble that, in speedway, should not be done lightly ... I hope Darcy does not live to rue the day ...
spin king
I reckon that Darcy is been very clever here. The contract that he has in Poland must be a big one money wise. The lad has exceptional talent, but he is not like others jumping straight into the GP like others but taken his time, he has obviously looked at others like Woffenden and too a lesser extent Holder and Sayfutdinov and seen how they have found it hard to maintain a top 8 place. He is still very young and time is certainly on his side, expect to see him mixing in the GP's either 2013 or 2014.

Bit of a weird thing to say, Holder has finished in the top 8 twice now out of two attempts and has already won at cardiff. Emil was 3rd in his opening year, had an injury plagued second year and was 6th this year. Both have been fine additions to the series and I have no doubt Darcy would be equally as impressive as those pair now. Think he would make the top 8 in 2012 should he take part. T.N.T.
Poland are playing a game with the sport in general saying YOU NEED US !! Darcy no doubt played the GP's to get a bigger deal in Poland !! They always say things come in 3's ...... lets see if Darcy gets his way at the AGM too ! Its a sad fact that in many sports now that competitors are driven by the money side of things rather than the ambition to reach the top. Thankfully we will always have riders like Freddie Lindgren, Nicki Pedersen etc etc that have had to move teams in Poland rather than miss the ultimate dream of trying to be World Champion Hope the BSI dont offer Ward, Pepe, Zagar, Vaculik etc any Wild Cards in 2012
Dogstar
I hope that the gaps created by the refusal of the wildcards will be made up by the riders who competed in the GP qualifiers? Only seems fair to me.
