Humphrey Appleby
The Premier Inn at Wembley has a normal rate of £49. If you want to stay in the same hotel the night before the Carling Cup Final, it'll cost you £179. The night of the FA Cup Final will set you back £189. But there's a lot of more availability and choice in London, especially if you're not going by car. Yes, you can drive out to the Travel Inn on the M4 at Cardiff, but it's not a place I'd particularly want to spend a weekend. Message from SCB: Will someone tell Humphrey Appleby and Parsloes 1928 nearly that it is indeed scandelous [sic] that hotels charge £120 a night. So they have just ruined their own argument is that is pretty much the gate (rate?) in London! Errr.. yes, but London is a world city so you fully expect that, and it has numerous sights, attractions and events, not to mention ways of getting there. Cardiff, with all due respect, has little of this. If I go to New York, I expect to pay a lot for accommodation. If I go to Dover, Delaware, I don't and won't. The Know
If it be cardiff or london, they all jack the cost up for any event not just speedway. This is normal and wont change. Cant afford it ? Dont go. Or get a job at the BSI and go for free.

Id be willing to bet strongly against that, the prices don't go up every other week when there is a big event on,don't forget the Arena holds plenty of events too afterall

essaitch
To those saying you'd get cheaper hotels at London, just look at hotel prices during the Olympics! I've found a Travelodge at £199 a night!!

Where's the £30 London hotels? Whenever I've looked for London hotels its over £100 a night. Well it is to stay anywhere near anything worthwhile. Anything less and you're staying so far out you may aswell stay in Newport on Cardiff weekend. Plus I go to about 50 meetings a season, I never stay in hotel, so I've just saved you £100. I can't agree that, (quote), "The Cardiff GP is going downhill fast". I reckon that it is a great weekend, only spoiled by the crazy hotel prices every year. I also believe that, despite my love of the old Wembley and its twin towers, Cardiff is the place for our British Grand Prix. Wembley has a nice new stadium, but the surrounding area is just a big Trading Estate and yes, you can travel into the West End for some entertainment, but in Cardiff, you have plenty of restaurants, bars, and Cardiff Bay all within easy distance and the noise and atmosphere inside the Millenium Stadium is just electric.

IT'S being so cheerful that keeps you going. Thought you hadn't been for a while so obviously haven't experienced the FanZone. Thankfully, tens of thousands of fans don't agree with you although no one will disagree that the hotel prices are outrageous but's that supply and demand for you.
