Swedish 2021 Season (info on 1st page with signings, rules and etc).

Interesting article in the Speedway Star this week about Svemo proposals for NEXT season.

Possibly only One league; a salary cap; a major reduction on expenditure; 6-man teams of which 3 must be Swedish!!

No surprise. Any sport that has a crowd of max 3000 can't pay huge wages. Pay the riders less and they will cut down on expenditure.

Isnt the current news from Sweden that they averaged 3k in Elitserien?

Anyway, combiningvelit and alksvenskan might happen. 1st div must stay though.

That is correct, 3068 on average http://www.elitspeedway.com/nyheter/e/70/bra-resultat-for-speedwayklubbarna-i-publikbarometern/

Which is an increase by 19% from 2016. However I mainly think it is due to good weather (no rain offs in Elitserien for 2016) and Masarna's return to Elitserien.

Elitserien is still the 3rd best attended league in Sweden and speedway is also the 3rd best attended sport in Sweden.

football (Allsvenskan) is nr 1, icehockey (SHL) is nr 2. http://www.svt.se/sport/motorsport/speedwayen-lyfte-rejalt-pa-laktarna/

If a merged Elitserien/Allsvenskan is going to work, they have to have two meetings/week for parts of the season since it otherwise isn't possible

to have 22 meetings+play off during the available months. IMO due to climate/weather, the seasons can't start earlier then may and needs to finished by early October.

Is Eurosport showing Swedish league again this season, haven't seen anything about it yet .sorry if this already been covered on here.

I am getting worried about no announcement of coverage- seeing that the 1st round is on the 9th May- I am pretty sure one of the polish TV stations will have it if the price is right- maybe Eleven sport or Orange sport(who have shown it in the past.) if it`s on in Poland we should at least be able to stream it.

It could also be only ten teams, not necessarily 12.

Well that is of course a theoretic possibility but IMO if it is 10 teams, that means teams would only have div1 teams.

We need as many teams as possible in the combined league so that the Swedish riders will have as many riding opportunities as possible.

Yes of course you do. But the biggest news in past two months club wise have been the possible closures of Vargarna and Indianerna. So in the end you will get the amount of teams that there are. I have no idea whats happening with Örnarna and Griparna, how stable they are, but the question will be asked whether to make the jump and gather money to have a decent season in Elitserien and continue there or to enter just div 1. No one knows at this point IMHO.

Sure I agree with your points/concerns. I think the idea of a new league would be that it would somewhere between Allsvenskan and Elitserien in quality if it happens.

I also don't think that all teams would have to have the same budget as the top Elitserien teams.

I don't know the exact financial status of each team but i think that Griparna are pretty stable from what I've heard. They were a bit loud about

the need/cost for a new air fence. Some claim though that Griparna had the money but that they complained so that the city would help fund the new airfence.

Vargarna is a bit uncertain still for 2018 and beyond but they claim that it's looking "bright".

I don't know about Örnarna. I would guess that they are somewhere in the middle, not in immediate danger but also not very stable.

Indianerna is the most troubling and I think it will depend on the weather. Too many rain offs and I think they might run into new problems.

-----------

Smederna have decided that the start will be moved by 8 m forward. http://eskilstunasmederna.se/arbetet-fortgar-pa-eskilstuna-motorstadion/

Smederna's press and practice have been postponed due the track works needing some more time and due to the uncertain weather forecast for next week.
