SteveLyric2
Some more bad financial news in this week's Speedway Star for Piraterna and Elit Vetlanda!! "...a bit surprisingly comes news that league winners Elit Vetlanda are also experiencing problems. ..The situation is not as bad as Piraterna but crowds have dropped way below their pre-season budget. ..The club has also lost plenty of sponsorship money and has now asked the local council for financial help. Unless this is granted Elit Vetlanda may have to withdraw from the Elite League and join the Allsvenskan League. ..Overall its been a good year for the Elite League weather wise ....and crowd-wise with the average attendance only dropping slightly on 2016... It is however still obvious that the sport has become too expensive for the clubs. Tracks are closing down one after another and the number of speedway venues is lower than ever before. Swedish speedway can ill-afford to lose more tracks and at the moment it is doubtful there will even be a second tier next season." In a seperate report from Vetlanda's website they are planning a substantial reduction to their rider budget for 2018!!
Ghostwalker
Vetlanda first said that they wanted more money from the city because otherwise they might have to drop out of Elitserien. Then a few days later they published astatement ("clarification") in which they said that they have a good and stable financial situation and that there was no reason for concern. The first statement and last statement seems a bit contradictory to me. They say that they have a good financial status, then why do they need more money from the city?I also see no reason for them to drop because they should be able to run with a team that matches their attendance average. I think they have become a bit lazy over the years. They have won many titles which have been rewarded with higher attendance. They should have invested more money into their track to make it more appealing to spectators. Pretty much what Smedernahave done to this season (to some extent) with track improvements (better and closer racing), a new big screen and etc.

Ghostwalker
Svemo presented the new rules for 2018 and there is a substantial amount of changes. Rule changes for Elitserien: 8 teams. Guest riders are scrapped Elitserien squads will consist of 8 riders that have an average of 0.501 or higher. Heat 11 as a reserve heat is scrapped and heats 12-14 will now be heat 11-13 where heat 14 and 15 are nominations heats.Heat 15 will be the same as it is now but heat 14 will be what the old heat 15 was (when we had 16 heats). A nomination heat forthose riders (including reserves) that are not riding in heat 15.* Reserves have three scheduled mandatory heats. They are not allowed to be substituted. Max 5 heats for reserves, 6 if used for R/R. Reserves can replace a regular rider twice at the most [not sure what this means]. No team will be relegated during seasons 2018-2020 but Allsvenskan teams can apply for promotion but will have toshow that they have financial order as well as a track that have sufficient standard for Elitserien. The average discount for riders below 21 will be removed. Rule changes for Allsvenskan: 6 teams, all 8 Elitserien teams will contribute to two teams in addition to the 4 other regular teams. 10 rounds then a post season cup for teams 1-4 Maximum 7 riders that have an average of 0.501 or higher. This includes guest riders. unlimited guest riders [but the above rule will limit it anyway]. The average discount for riders below 21 will be removed. Rule changes for Division 1 It is no longer mandatory for Elitserien teams and Allsvenskan teams to contribute with a team each for Division 1.However, it is still strongly recommended. No decision regarding Div 1 league formar, it depends on amount of teams. New 250cc league There will be a new 250cc league in Sweden from next season, Riders aged 14-16 will be allowed to participate Riders aged 14 (year of birth counts, not day/month) are allowed to do both 250cc and 85cc Riders aged 15 can only ride in 250cc Riders aged 16 are allowed to do both 250cc and 500cc. League format have not been decided. 85cc Only one 85cc series due to the new 250cc series. Riders aged 11 (if the are qualified for upgrading from Golden helmet license to youth license) - 14 can ride in the 85cc league. * heat 15, the team managers can nominate two of the three riders who have scored most points (including bonus) (reserves excluded). heat 14, the team managers can nominate any rider that is not riding in heat 15. http://www.svemo.se/sv/Grenar/Speedway/Nyheter/NyttprotokollTrackRacing13/ Official averages for 2018: http://www.svemo.se/ImageVaultFiles/id_13483/cf_44/Ing-ngssnitt_2018_Elitserien_och_Allsvenskan.PDF Edited September 18, 2017 by Ghostwalker
racers and royals
•Reserves can replace a regular rider twice at the most [not sure what this means]. pretty sure that means in addition to their 3 programmed - they can be used to replace a rider in the 1 to 5 on 2 occasions during the match- giving them a max 5 riders(6 if R/R) Can you clarify the rules for who can ride in heats 14 and 15 ? That is possible but that surely didn't need to be addressed separately? I've updated the post with clarification regarding heat 14 and 15. The only two changes I like is that all teams in Elitserien have to contribute to two additional Allsvenskan teams and that we now will have a 250cc league. f-s-p
This 250cc league is very good Can foreign riders take part in this? Think they can. They're doing an individual league in Denmark this season and I dont think it was "full" EDIT: what I meant was that should allow foreign riders. Ghostwalker
So regular riders can normally replace others when -8, right? yes, I haven't see any info that the tac-sub rule have been changed. This 250cc league is very good Can foreign riders take part in this? Think they can. They're doing an individual league in Denmark this season and I dont think it was "full" EDIT: what I meant was that should allow foreign riders. I don't know but would guess that it is the same rules (*10.4.1) as for the 85cc youth series this season where Norwegian and Finnish riders also were allowed to participate due to very limited activity in their home countries.
