I must have missed all those editorials calling for the abolition of the retain-and-transfer system...

It doesn't need abolishing, it just needs someone with the balls to offer a job to a rider, any rider and just refuse to pay loan or transfer fees. For certain it will collapse like a house of cards because, stupid as some of them are, no promoter in their right mind would be willing to stake anything on such a system being enforced.

Speedway riders are just self employed tradesmen, able to tender for any job they wish and when it is done tender for another

It amounts to the same thing as abolition however it's actually done.

Regardless though, I don't ever recall the Star leading any sort of crusade to free riders from what is little more than indentured servitude...

A new speedway clubs have been started in Karlstad. It is called Karlstad-Hammarö Speedwayklubb. http://speedway054.se

There already exist two clubs in Karlstad, Solkatterna and Svensk Folkspeedway Karlstad. The latter is a kind of a rogue* team and since several

of its board members also are board members for Solkatterna they have made Solkatterna gone rogue as well which have resulted

This have resulted in that several Solkatterna members left the club due to the way Solkatterna was run and due to the actions of some

Solkatternas board members where they tried to prevent Svemo licensed riders from practising on the track by trying to prevent Svemo

officials from doing a formal check up ("besiktning") of the track (which is required before it can be used by Svemo licensed riders/clubs).

The thing is though that the track is owned by the City of Karlstad (Karlstad Municipality) and Solkatterna/Folkspeedway are just tenants and

as such they have of course no right to do what they did. However Karlstad municipality officials have acknowledge this problem and will

make sure that the track is checked and approved by Svemo so that riders and teams connected to Svemo can use the track as well.

*a team that have decided to organize themselves with the newly form "rogue federation" Svenska motorsportalliansen instead of being organized under Svemo.

They have a different idea about speedway. Their idea is that it should be easily accessible to all which according to them means:

no airfences, all kinds of speedway bikes should be allowed to be uses regardless of their condition, no licenses and etc which means

that anyone can show up with any kind of speedway bike and race. But there is no guarantees that the riders participating is actually

capable of riding a speedway bike.

Smederna made an announcement today regarding Szymon Wozniak, that Smederna will lend him to an Allsvenskan clubs for 2014.

Strange situation at Karlstad.

By the way, wasn't there talk a couple of years ago about Bysarna getting a new track on the island of Gotland. What is the situation with Bysarna? Any news?

Bysarna started the construction of a new 80cc track in Hejdeby two years ago nut I don't know if the tracks is completely finished yet.

I am also not sure if and when the 500cc track will be built. From what I've read, Bysarna could not afford to build the 500cc as well

so they started with the 80cc track with the ambition of perhaps building the 500cc track later on.

I don't know but perhaps in a couple of years they will manage to build the large track as well.

A couple of more signings:

Krzysztof Buczkowski, Jonas Engdahl and Rasmus Jensen have signed with Dackarna. Rasmus Jensen's contract is for two years and he will be sent on a loan to Griparna for 2014.

Matej Zagar and Nicklas Porsing have signed with Piraterna.

Griparna have really been messing around the last couple of days,

Lets's start from the beginning, Fredrik Edberg have been involved in both Hammarby's and Griparna's operations for some time.

In the past week Edberg split with Hammarby in quite turbulent forms and he decided to fully focus on his role as deputy-chairmen of the board for Griparna.

However since that moment he have sacked three riders that Griparna signed for next season.

The riders in question are Joel Andersson, Szymon Wozniak and Rasmus Jensen. They were sacked since Edberg wanted to bring in three other riders;

Kim Nilsson for everyone thought have signed for Hammarby, Ty Protctor and Kauko Nieminen.

This means that with about 1 week reaming to the deadline for when the teams are to be registered, those three riders now are

without a team place for next year since the other teams are already full (except maybe for Hammarby).
