I think Scunny could let Greenwood replace Steve at Somerset and Richie is only on loan to Newcastle and would hopefully ride for the Saints in a play off simi final rather than a dead meeting at Plymouth. :t:

Scunthorpe would also be a lot closer for him!

I'm pretty sure Scunthorpe (Scorpions) would release S Worrall if he wanted to ride for the Saints.

i wonder if Belle Vue were offered Thursday and turned it down???

I wonder if it was simply because Sheffield had a meeting at Owlerton that night??? Seems like BV get the blame if they turn up ie last Thursday at Sheffield and if they don't!! I think it could be their fault for it raining last night at Scunthorpe and that is why the whole team is busy shuffling things around to try and get the meeting run on Friday.

Well you have no fixture clashes either that night so the shuffling shouldnt be to bad!!!

That statement makes an assumption that all of the BV riders and "mechanics" have nothing to do other than sit at home waiting for Scunthorpe, or is it Sheffield, or even Scunfield, to make the call on when to ride!!! I suppose if they were paid as much as they are at Scunthorpe that may be possible!!

Of course I am on a wind up, but to Rob and the staff at the EWR, thanks for trying to get this fixture run. It is not BV's aim to go through to the Final by default hence agreeing to the restaging dates. May the best team win overall and not the weather!!!

Newcastle are already two riders down and need a reserve guest as it is (R/R for Kyle Newman and guest reserve for Joe Haines), so there is no chance they will release Richie and de-value the product even further.

This competion is becoming a laugh!......In my opinion Saints being one of the the strongest teams in the NL ( all youngsters whos ridden their hearts out to get where they are now ) (through no fault of Saints ) promoters seem to deliberately select dates when members of the team would be missing. Whats the point of play offs when it ends up where teams do not contest the best? Isn't that what its suppose to be all about? Surely for this competion (in all leagues) riders should be released to compete, otherwise dont bother, let teams race for the 1st places to become league champion!

Trouble is,if PL teams have to release rider for the NL they would never sign them in the first place, plus would rider want to miss out on the extra pay they get riding for there PL teams?I doubt it

End of the day, riders who have stepped up is what the league is all about

And you could argue that, the play off gives the chance to teams to win the league, who maybe, due to riders not being available due to PL teams, work or even exams in some cases.

Scunny and Belle Vue for example this year have maybe never raced a meeting at full strenght but have made it to the play offs, now, they can go for it

Plus, some of the NL teams loose money,so the play offs give the promotions the chance to balance the books as well a create some excitment,The Stoke and Mildenhall POSF proved this

Yes, which is why he missed the GB Under-21 vs USA Touring Team match at Dudley last night.

He's been missing with a back injury since 18th September.

So you could use a guest for Joe up to 4.31 and Nl rider for Richie someone like Lewi Kerr and Pickard, could even make you stronger!!

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you here.

Surely it's up to the NL meeting promoters to come up with a suitable date which benefits both teams? :approve:

Somerset vs Scunthorpe in itself suggest that riders are 'double booked' (for the want of a better phrase) and, along with Plymouth vs Newcastle was arranged weeks ago, so why should PL teams release riders for a 'lower-tier' match, when their own PL match was (re)arranged first?

Plus the fact that Scunthorpe can ride on any day of the week, suggests that an alternative date where riders aren't riding elsewhere, could be found, surely?

I refer you back to my original post:- re devaluing the (PL) product.

There are 3 other PL matches that night, plus an individual meeting at Leicester, so getting a PL reserve guest in in the first place is greatly reduced!

And how would bringing in an NL guest for Richie (3.74 ave) make us stronger??

i said it could make you stronger by using guest for Joe,PJL from redcar could do a job,and Richies away average for you is 2.48,so yes it COULD make you stronger,im didnt say it would

Yes, I realise you said could!

The thing is though, Richie scored 10+1 from 6 rides at Plymouth for us back on 9th September, so I doubt a 3 point 'rookie' would get anything like that (please note I said "doubt" LOL).

Joe (for the record) scored 4 from 4 from the number 3 position.
