Nl Regional League Trophy.

There may be a need for a NL competition that is not a full fixture list of maybe half a dozen meetings, split maybe on a North/South/Midlands basis this will enable Teams who are unable to commit to a full fixture list to run a NL Team, such as maybe Lakeside,Birmingham Bulls who could then run half a dozen local meaningful meetings rather than fixture filling challenge matches.

North.

Another.

Sheffield.

Workington.

Redcar.

Newcastle.

Berwick.

South.

Lakeside.

Sittingbourne.

Rye House.

Ipswich.

Eastbourne.

Another.

Midlands.

Dudley.

Birmingham.

Stoke.

Swindon.

Coventry.

Leicester/Buxton.

There could also with a little re-jigging be an Eastern Regional League Trophy,

East.

Kings Lynn.

Mildenhall.

Scunthorpe.

Leicester.

Ipswich.

Another.

Straight away i can think of maybe a name being the Midlands League Trophy, Northern League Trophy, and Southern League Trophy,if they wanted they could also enter KO Cup Nationally. This would be an ideal way to test the water for Teams not 100% sure of commiting to a full seasons racing in the NL. Yes maybe there would have to be a watering down of teams in the Trophy meetings to get the riders needed ie points limit to be 36/38 only for Trophy matches, but there are also some older riders out there without Teams <max 2 per team> who would love this oportunity.

Lots of local derbies in there thats what the public wants, What are your thoughts on this ??.

It looks a great idea, its just I dont see a Birmingham Bulls side entering. Sadly, there is no appettite for National League speedway with most Birmingham fans, the home meeting with Stoke probably only drew in 150-200 fans at most. I went to the Dudley match and the weather wasnt the best but there were hardly any Birmingham fans there. It does get me angry, as I wish more fans would support it, as at the end of the day these lads are our future. Whether they are representing the 'Brummies' or the 'Bulls, they deserve equal support and the price is much reduced, so no excuses.

Would more fans come out for this, with the fixtures more meaningful, I honestly dont know. Going on the crowds so far, you would have to doubt it even against a local side.

Kev,thats what i mean, really these challenge matches are just fixture fillers, whereas a local League would hopefully draw in a few more spectators and the riders are racing for points.

Neil, Thats where GB Speedway has fallen down, and now we having to pay for it, there are riders who have dropped out over recent seasons, ie Plymouth, Bournemouth, Weymouth, Sittingbourne reputedly wanted to enter the NL so there must be 28 riders around, relaxing the partriality rule 1 Commonwealth rider per team on an assesed realistic average, for 2/3 seasons only until we can get more coming through. so with the 28 who dropped out from defunct teams, 1 Commonwealth rider per Team, and the 1 Older rider per team we are not far away, add to this the Adam Portwoods,Paul Tyrers,James McBain,Adam? Greenwood, and similar others it could be done.

I realise it is a development League, but sometimes we have to take a short term hit,for a longer term gain, and with additional PL/NL Teams testing the water, maybe 1 Commonwealth/American rider per Team is no bad thing as it will enable them to asses these riders under competitive conditions, rather than in after meeting laps.
