Igor
1991 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship began with the quarter-finals, held May 26 in Germany (Norden, ?), Denmark and Norway. Then June 30 there were two semi-finals – in Cherkessk (USSR) and Austria (Nachbah-Lopersbah). The final was in Coventry (England), September 30. There are details of the first six races somewhere? Igor
Information from the final held at Coventry:- World Under-21 Final - Coventry - 30.09.91 ... Ht 7..62.7..Parker, Olsen, Kuzdzal, Labedzki [Ex]. ... Initially, the result of this heat was: Ht 7. Parker, Labedzki, Olsen, Kuzdzal. But in the first bend of the second round drops Kuzdzal, who was riding in third. Then polish up and go racer, race did not stop. And finally, for some reason was excluded Labedzki. ImpartialOne
Interesting to note that no Brits were in either of the semis (Hackett was only reserve) and Joe Screen was seeded to the final at Coventry. We talk about the lack of British talent these days and yet in 1991 it would seem they were thin on the ground too in a time when Britain (or rather England) had such a wealth of international riders in Wigg, Tatum, Dugard, Loram, Screen, Thorp, Wilson, Cox, Havelock, Doncaster, Silver, Knight, Louis, Smith, Cross, Evitts, etc. Edited October 17, 2011 by ImpartialOne
