MrMungo
Are sheff/scunny allowed a guest for gary irvine if so could they use simon lambert hope so No, Irving is now 3rd in the averages, IIRC. Guest only for your number 1. Birks is also injured, but think he is planning to ride on Thursday.

neil3065
Even if Irving was still number one in the averages, Lambert isnt permitted to guest for anyone, as he has attained a PL average of over 4.00. There are a number of riders currently in NL 1-7's affected by this rule, including Barrie Evans, Nick Simmons, David Mason and Adam Allott. Seems a silly rule to me - if your number one is injured, you should be able to use anyone in an NL 1-7 to guest whose average fits that of your rider. Must be a recently added rule too, as I know Barrie has guested in the NL previously, as has Jon Armstrong, who is also ineligible to be used as a guest. Not true, some riders are ineligible to guest in the PL. These are the riders you are talking about Adam Allott, Barrie Evans, Jon Armstrong, Nick Simmons. Dean Fleton etc as they have all attained a PL average. All riders in a NL 1-7 are eligible to guest in the NL provided their average is lower than the rider they are replacing. Lamberts average is too high in fact he could only guest for Howarth or Kurtz as he is currently third in the league averages. However, it is irrelevant in this case as Irving is third in Scunthorpes averages so it will have to be r/r.

Ah, I read it that those riders couldnt guest for other NL teams - but you're saying the rule applies to riders guesting for PL teams? Thanks for that, the wording on the NL team declarations sheet didnt make that clear. Obviously I'm aware that any guest's average cannot exceed that of the rider he is replacing. Rob B
Colts got big problems, Mckinna broken collar bone R/R for him, still no Bekker but only allowed 3.00 guest even though he has 6.50 ave. Doubt on Garrity too as he had heavy crash at Leicester.

To be fair Rob. alhough they will be greatly missed, these are lads who have played a big part in getting the boys into the play off's, I would say. Hopefully the remainder can step on it and back Howarth up. Although I'm sure everybody will be keeping their fingers crossed for Jason Edited October 4, 2011 by TMW

Scunny Stag
From www.scunthorpespeedway.com Saints Playoff Final bound? The Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints race at Sheffield tomorrow night against the Belle Vue Colts in the second leg of the National League Playoff Semi-final. 46-41 down from the first leg in Manchester the Saints may start favourites to progress to face Mildenhall in the final but Team Manager Stuart Parnaby is certain his side won’t be complacent. “We know how big this meeting is. It’s the biggest of the season so far and some riders go through their career without winning a league title. This is our chance and we must take it with both hands”. Whilst Sheffield is considered as the Saints’ home track, following the Yorkshire club’s agreement to share responsibility with us for our National League side, the home leg of the final, should the Saints progress, will be held at the Eddie Wright Raceway in Scunthorpe and Friday 21st October has been pencilled in as the date for the title decider. It is expected to be the second leg of the tie but dates will only be finalised should the Saints progress. The Saints are also in action on Friday night when they race the Hackney Hawks at Lakeside. Steve Worrall and Ashley Birks will not be making the trip so Conor Dwyer and Ben Holloway will make their debuts. Teams for the weekend: Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints (Thursday v Belle Vue): 1. Steve Worrall, 2. Rider replacement for Gary Irving, 3. Richie Worrall, 4. Lee Smethills, 5. Ashley Birks, 6. Adam Wrathall, 7. Stefan Nielsen Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints (Friday @ Lakeside): 1.
