Polish Riders In Britain

Yes, Stefan Kwoczala rode for Leicester in 1960. He was their second top scorer behind Ken McKinlay, scoring 228+20 in 26 matches.

I recall seeing Stefan Kwoczala ride at New Cross. He was a world class rider who came 7th in the 1960 world final. I believe a serious injury cut his career short.

Everybody seems to have forgotten the very first Polish rider to appear in the UK

Max Rech was a fighter pilot in the war, he later settled in Devon or Cornwall, and rode for St Austell in their league teams in the early to mid 1950's.

Ha, ha, ha..! I DID say I hadn't checked!!!!:oops::oops::P

I remember Jerzy Rembas, didn't he ride well in a World Final at Wembley, always think of him as being ok.

Same with Cieslak, when he rode for White City.

Yes Rembras (then also with Leicester) lost a run-off for third in the 1978 WF.

Marek had been a very important part of the Rebels' BL winning team of the year before.
