Plymouth 2012

Recommended Posts

You have to be blind, deaf and stupid not to notice the things that have been going on at the meetings on a friday night, you have to wonder what some people are looking at when they go, because it's very hard sometimes to watch the speedway.

And considering what has been going on the support for the team has been very good, some people think that we should support the promotor no matter what happens at the meetings, don't work that way, and they will say if you don't like it don't go, well lots of supporters have done just that, it's not the place for parents to take there family anymore, but that will change with the right person taking over.

There is more than one yr left where do you get your info from also there are a few assets. I am mike's daughter.

Name them?

I can only think of Glanz, Reade and I believe Danny Stoneman (although he may well have moved on now) as the only three unless your counting the now retired Mark Simmonds and Seemond Stephens. We have had other riders become assets but the likes of Paul Starke (IOW) have become assets elsewhere now after falling out with your dad.

The lease expires in 2014 so your quite right it's two years not one left.

Its surely not a matter of assets, can one put a value on the fact that the arena has PP, yes maybe the lease only has another 2 years to run, but the biggest asset has to be the existing Planning permission, just ask Trelawny, Exeter, Weymouth, Bristol, they are all struggling to find new locations after years of trying, I am sure an agreement can be reached amicably, perhaps with MB remaining in a Honorary capacity, in recognition of his past efforts.

This awfully messy, but should the family be getting such a hard time. Is it really the way to keep speedway.

Never forget the people that open clubs back up or new owners that revitalise clubs.

IT IS A MIGHT TOUGH TASK

A bit empathy might help here.

Do you think in all of this the promotor of the club tried to understand the feelings of any of the supporters of the club, after things that went on at the meetings on a friday i don't think so, if his feelings were hurt then he might understand what we has supporters felt when the rest of the PL were laughing at what was going on at Plymouth, this was all of the promotors doing, all the fans of the club want to do is watch a speedway meeting without all the distractions going on around them, and when it goes on every week, it's very hard.

I do like most of the supporters respect what Mike Bowden has done to bring speedway to Plymouth, but the club is on a downward slide and to stop that there needs to be changes made, so hopefully that will happen so the club can move on, there has been a lot of work done at the sba to get speedway up and running so Mike Bowden needs compensation for that, but that will be down to the new people taking over getting the go ahead from the landlords of the site, until then it stays the same.

Some people watch Gollob and want to be a speedway rider, this lot watched Only Fools and Horses, and wanted to become Speedway Promoters.

Very true, good job they didn't watch Emmerdale Farm

Fair enough, it must have been pretty bad stuff!

Dear Sir.

I am an avid follower of speedway in Plymouth and could not have been more excited when the sport returned to Plymouth after such a long absence. I know we are going through a period where it would be advantageous to all concerned if the sport could move on to better things, and the new consortium has generated greater enthusiasm and excitement, for a new venture and a new beginning. There is an average of eight hundred to one thousand every Friday night that stand and enjoy the thrills and excitement generated by this family sport, and that is one of the major factors, it is a family sport. All of the fans appreciate that the land is owned by the St Boniface College, and in doing so have the right to control the activities that take place upon this land. We hear rumours of a possible sale of the land to a Super Market chain. But we have only one outlet for Speedway in this wonderful town of Plymouth, but have hundreds of outlets for Super Markets, please do not give them another, and leave us with nothing again for another thirty to forty years. Your College shows good sporting activities and outward bound activities, please help us keep our family sporting activity within the Plymouth city boundaries. We need this new consortium to inject new life and ideas into the sport in Plymouth, for the benefit of the sport and the City of Plymouth.

Yours sincerely

Dear Sir.

I

This is a letter that has been asked for to round up some enthusiasm and some action.

Sadly this Letter appears to be only for Plymouth Supporters. Would it be acceptable for folk to alter the Text so that Supporters from further afield could support you in this endeavour?

Thanks for your reply. I shall be sending an e-mail soon. :t:

Any developments regarding Plymouth speedway need to be seen along with the widely reported financial issues reported in the press towards the end of 2011 for the landowner. If I had surplus land and a shortfall I'd be looking to rationalise my assets, serve reasonable notice using any potential break clauses in the leasing arrangements and sell the land to the highest bidder ( probably a supermarket chain...). So disapointing as it is - with 2 years to run on the lease, the landowners might seem to have some reasonable grounds for calling it a day and advising speedway that they should be grateful for what they've had. Add in a bit of concern about the nature of the promotion and its hard to see speedway in Plymouth having a long -term future...

Not sure if it's been noted anywhere but on Twitter today Robert Ksiezak has announced his retirement from the sport.

"Would like to thank everyone that has helped me during my years racing in the UK, but the time has come to call it a day. Had a great time!"

By all accounts a very nice guy and did OK for us at reserve this year.

No supermarket is going to be built at st bonifice ! The land in question is the old super bowl / homemaker site on plymouth road . So you can save all your pleas to the college and the world as speedway in plymouth is not going anywhere . I dont know who starts there rumours ! This is getting so out of hand.

Believe what you want!!!!! Why would anyone build on land that floods? Doh use your brain
