screm
Last thing PL speedway needs is to lose any track,so its great news that the future of Plymouth Speedway appears to be secure.Good luck to the new owners.
Roger MARTIN
Devils boss Bowden set to sell up to consortium http://www.thisisply...tail/story.html Dave will you be going on friday. It amuses me when i read Bowden`s explanation of his late payment`s to his riders-being all about late payments from the home club in the away meetings not received within the 7 days stipulated. This however works 2 ways so i`m assuming that all the away sides visiting plymouth have been paid up and nothing is owed. !!!!!!! I think he should see if he can get a job on Jackanory,
Drac
Bye bye Bowden. Shame I don't live closer to Plymouth as I'd have liked to have personally thrown you out. Good luck to the Devils in 2013!

barncooseboy
The takeover is dependant on us reaching an agreement with the landowners to take over the site lease as that previously granted is non transferrable

Fromafar
If the story regarding Glanz in this weeks Star is to be believed it'no wonder Speedway has finacial difficulties.Claims he agreed £60 a point but had to take pay cut to £40 .Bowden claiming £35 is the norm for reserves. If every duff foriegner can get that kind of money for reserve hate to think what the decent one's command. Pinny
60 a point for Glanz?! Lol! Seems that it maybe Glanz taking Bowden for a ride!! I know of 3 or 4 2011 Newport Wasps riders who were on less and were banging in double figures most meetings!! And they were said to be overpaid! Lewis your right but it must have been agreed with Mike Bowden when he sign for the team, just goes to show that he hasn't got a clue when dealing with riders, lets hope who ever takes over does a better job, lets be honest they can't do any worse, if Glanz was on £60 a point what is the rest on. Pinny
Fair point. Also worth adding that Plymouths healthy crowd probably allow Bowden to spend a lot on his side whilst Newports didnt Although if hes paying that kind of money then how hard would it of been to assemble a star studded line up ?! We spoke with Glanz about 3 years ago and as a result we then signed Dak.
Backless
To be fair, you could put Glanz on 100 quid a point - it's not exactly going to be a drain on resources now, is it? However, if the figure quoted is an indication as to the fanciful figures being claimed & paid in some cases, the enormity of the sport's problems are put into perspective.

Don't kid yourself, he is a decent rider. If £60 a point is true, well the riders are doing to the club what Bowen was doing to the barmaid last year. Allegedly.

He also said the home promoter has to pay both teams wages but the visiting promoter .has to make up any shortfall in their wages over and above the basic rate.Surely if heat leaders second heat leaders and reserves were on the same sliding scale ie HL £80 SHL £60 RES £35 and every promoter paid the same money would that not help ?
