JCookie
Your well off the mark tsunami! You clearly have him mixed up with someone else. Seen him win many races at brough park Twice he's had a max at newcastle one was a stunning 18 point one too! Ricky is an excellent rider as most people are quite aware. SCB
What do people exspect Glanz to average? Rode last year in Demark i think he will average over 6? Unless he's seriously improved he'll do well to hit 5. I'll go with a little over 4.
Halifaxtiger
Actually I think that just makes sense. It's how Leicester was built and a lot of clubs have people who turn up to do this. I remember a group of offered to do this at Newport years back for Tim Stone and got asked what was in it for us and the offer was turned down! Well said Its hardly unheard of to have volunteers in. In fact, I once painted the whole of Mildenhall's fence.

Actually me and about 8 others have been to Brough Park all day painting both sides of the kickboards. Just got to make some new ones, take out and replace a lot of fenceposts, replace some netting, nail on all the kickboards, paint the pits, put the poly sheeting on the fence and do a dozen other jobs. That'll be our time taken up every Sunday until Practice day. Do folks think the fairies do it all.

It will be similar over the country.
Brooksy
Well said Its hardly unheard of to have volunteers in. In fact, I once painted the whole of Mildenhall's fence. But did you have to provide your own brushes??
Tsunami
Well done again. It is how tracks survive with willing volunteers like your goodself. It will be similar over the country. It's very rewarding actually. Half the number already work on racenight so already get in for nowt. The other half are from the training school and do it because they get free track time during the season. Still pay to get into the meetings. Halifaxtiger
But did you have to provide your own brushes?? That was provided for me...........to be fair, SCB is right. While Mr Bowden can be criticised in many areas, asking for volunteers to paint the fence isn't one of them. While Mr Bowden can be criticised in many areas, asking for volunteers to paint the fence isn't one of them. You would not say that if you were paying someone for 12 hours a day, seven days a week down at the SBA, you would ask him what he has been doing if he asked for people to help paint the fence, it would be a bit different if he did not come out with statements like that, we all know he don't spend that much time down there. Interestingly, Berwick have 8.40 to replace Kozza and Ricky's average is 8.39. Hmmm.

torpointfanatic22
I think the initial post about Mr Bowden asking for volunteers (which I cant find now) wasn't so much about a promoter asking for help, to which most clubs do, but more about the fact that one minute Mr Bowden is in the press slating supporters for their criticism and giving them the one finger salute at home matches but then has the cheek to ask those people for help. I don't think there was any knocking of the actual idea of volunteers. As for Glanz, someone asked about what they expect him to average, well given he's invested quite a bit in his machinery and in his last PL spell he averaged 4.8 for Reading (albeit 3 years ago) the omens are good. However what we have to look at is that if he hits the ground running he's very likely to be in the main body at the expense of Holder or Werner and that alone will probably restrict his increase. I think 5 - 5.5 is realistic but 4.5 by the end of the season would prove a decent year for him in my opinion. As for Ashworth possibly not signing after all, nothing would surprise me when the words Bowden, Plymouth and speedway are in the same paragraph! Pinny
I think the point about Bowden asking for help wasnt the fact he asked for help, but that he asked them to bring their own brushes which means despite not paying the people to come and help he also wants them to splash out and buy their own brushes which in fairness does stink of tightness.
lewy
that was my point "bring your own brushes" thier is a b&q across the road from the track surely it would make sense to provide brushes he would probably get more volunteers but thats bowdens pr skills in a nutshell
