Plymouth 2012

Holder is a poor signing despite the Ashworth coup and retaining Barker, the team yet again lets very underwhelming!

I think its a case of what might have been :( . Barker, Ashworth & Glanz are all good signings, and Boxall isn't a bad one. Holder & Werner are very poor, though - I doubt if anyone would want them and there are much better options available, particularly to a club that probably gets the biggest attendances in the PL.

maybe you might come a close second to attendance figures to my home club leicester but i dont think you have a better attendance than us.i have only been once and i dident think support was that good alough there was fans all around the track.if you take your fans and put them at scunny or sheffield woud it look as packed? with a track a third of the size of anywhere else just a few fans would make it look busy are you sure you get as many supporters as you make out?maybe thats the reason for your budget team again next year.

To be fair, Leicester's gates are at least as good as Plymouth's. Having said that, on the occasions I went to SBA last season I don't think any gate was under four figures, and that's almost certainly better than anyone else. The gate at the last match against Edinburgh was truly astonishing - pushing 2,000 for a nothing match on a cold October night - and the queue's outside at start time had to be seen to be believed.

I am not sure that Werner & Holder's signings are for cost reasons. Whatever the case, I doubt that there are many at SBA celebrating their recruitment for next season.

I agree that Brent Werner is a very weak signing but let’s face it he was forced to retire for family reasons which meant that until these issues are resolved he could not commit 100% of his attention to his racing, hopefully all these issues have now been resolved then Brent could surprise a lot of us if he returns to his previous form.

James Holder is a true team man, he will never be a top scorer but he gets the points when his team need him to perform as he did on several occasions during his spell at Somerset he was an excellent captain and was always there to help if required.

In my opinion both Brent and James could be match winners

The thing is Brent Werner hasn't just retired once, he 's done it a number of times and the possibility of him returning to top form must be a remote one.

When putting a side together, its all about getting riders who are going to increase their averages, hit big points week in, week out or having youthful promise for future years. I can't see any of these applying to Holder or Werner and can certainly see other riders without team places to whom it could and who would fit the averages concerned.

I thought Brent Werner was retired so his signing is a real gamble and IMO will be seen to fail, there are far more attractive options on that average that would do at least as well if not better than Werner.

Leicester were averaging over 2000 even when they were continuously losing home and away.

Indeed, Hart would be better than Holder - especially at the SBA.

Come on you guys, give Jimmy a chance. Nothing went right for him for pretty much the season last year, capped it all by his rib injuries. Jimmys a nice lad and will score points for you, but he also needs your backing.

I agree Starman, i don't want Hart at the SBA, he was ok riding against NL rider's at the SBA, but found it not so easy the last he came down, riding against better rider's, am willing to give Holder a chance, and i think most Plymouth supporters will do the same, so let's get off the lad's back

Must have some terrible luck because he's always been crap.

Good post mate. Jimmy is a good lad, but he also needs support and encouragement from both fans and management, the Somerset management looked after and encouraged jimmy well, as you know he was Captain of the Rebels. but If i had a fault with jimmy he's just that, to nice. Especially round Plymouth he's going to need to be a lot more aggresive out the starts, thats where i thought part of his problem at Somerset was. But he does have it in him.

But bear in mind he was carrying injuries at the back end of the season, you have a fit jimmy, im not going to say he will pull up big tree's, but he will do ok for you. But he needs allround support.

Jerran is suprising me, when he rode for our Buccaneer side at Poole i said give him 2 years and he'l be riding EL.

Jerrans a good rider, but i can't believe he's not doing better than he's showing.

To be honest Jim has never really improved but agree he is a great guy and is superb for team morale.
