Plymouth 2012

Recommended Posts

Werner is a bizarre signing. I suppose there is a small possibility that he might actually improve on that six point (or so) average, but the likelihood is anything but. Worse still, it won't inspire a single person down in the south west or create the excitement for the forthcoming season that every fan needs.

The sadness is it almost completely destroys the terrific news about Barker returning.

Its a queer one right enough,Werner was a decent PL in the past, and thats the issue, its in the dim and distant past.IMO Werner wont recapture that in any way,if Plymouth had 6ish points to play with, there mustve been more attractive riders out there.

I hope for Plymouths sake Werner proves to be an inspired signing, but I have my doubts.

Glanz is a 3 I believe and Werner is 5.83 from the figure he last attained with Newport in 2009. He rode 4 meetings in 2010 with Somerset achieving an average of less than 2!

The way Gary Spiller has been treated as some have already mentioned was disgraceful (the letter still hasn't arrived I'm told). I don't want to say too much but Gary was told by Mr Bowden he was sacked only for Mr Bowden to tell Seemond (new team manager) that Gary was taking time out! If you want to know the full story then head over to the Devils forum where you can read most of the tripe that has gone on recently.

As for the team, well sadly we could've had a top team for this season but Werner is the first of what I believe will be another poor team. I genuinely feel Seemond Stephens would do better. Brent sold all his machinery after being dropped from Somerset so I ask who at 36 is going to invest heavily enough in good equipment to give yourself a chance of being competitive. His average is terribly high and he will get nowhere near it.

In yesterday's local paper Mr Bowden is muting the team to be this...

Barker

Cockle

Kristiansen

Werner

Wells

Franchetti

Glanz

Now I and everyone else know full well that team will be an embarrassment to this great league and would come in over 4 points short of the 42.5 limit. There are riders out there on decent averages that have shown they can ride the SBA well that could help us to be competitive, Boxall, Sweetman, McGowan are examples of riders yet to be signed that could turn us into a decent side. But yet again it seems we will have a side on the cheap that will get smashed away and struggle at home. As a Plymouth fan I'm ashamed!

That's a poor team. Cockle, Glanz & Franchetti are OK (particularly at home) but there's room for two in the team, not three.

Bowden's cheap skate penny pinching is soon going to catch up with him, believe me. What is so hard to understand is that he isn't a promoter who has had to shovel shedloads of cash in to keep it going - he's made a lot of money at SBA.

You and all the lads I know at Plymouth deserve better.

B4E mentioned Werner yesterday, but I thought she was winding me up!!... And I thought our line up was disappointing!

Boxall should be left well alone. He'll only let you down as he has all of the clubs he's signed for.

Feel sorry for Plymouth fans. On my 2 visits to the St. Boniface Arena this season i was very impressed on the size of the crowd.

Bowden deserves to treat Devils fans with a more attractve line up for 2012.

Why on earth sign Werner on a 5.83 average, there are so many better options out there.

Next, he will be announcing that he is bringing in Sci-co Simon Walker.

On the way he has got rid of Gary Spillar, absolutely disgusting.

Had a good chat with Gary after our 1st meeting was postponed.

I along with all the Bears fans who spoke with him found him a very nice man.

He was passionate about the Devils, deserved better. Shame on you Bowden.

But the difference is when Boxall turns up he'll score points, Brent may as well not bother turning up!

But only if the BSPA ratify such a weak/product which I am sure they will not.

Why would I have wound you up over that?! I only laughed 'cos it's such a weird inclusion into a team line up... I honestly feel so sorry for Plymouth fans... Will be another year of Barker against the rest of the PL..

He generally does at first, but poorly maintained machinery and an attitude to match will soon have to tearing your hair out!

It's called the Evening Herald newspaper, maybe it's them then that have no idea or possibly even the promoter himself after all it's his words. Here's the link for you to read whilst you eat your humble pie... ;)

In that newspaper report, it says nothing of the sort that Gino Franchetti may be signing. He says the rider himself has expressed an interested to return to the team.

I'm sure others will correct me, but I feel sure that in the early '90s, Mildenhall were thrown out of the League for proposing to run with a team perceived to be too weak.

So presumably there is a precedent.

What, like Mildenhall 2008? ;)

And in my original post I said that the team was muted to be the 7 riders I named, I didn't say that was the team he was signing but the fact that those 7 were mentioned with no-one else does suggest that is the sort of team we will be seeing.
