Bavarian
According to Wiki, Cox (which is as I recall it) rode in the 1994 World Final as a German. I believe he wore the German flag on his race jacket too. http://en.m.wikipedi...ld_Championship It is on wikipedia, I see, but its wrong. German license, yes, German nationality, no. iris123
That would probably be the same as Laguta representing Latvia in the SGP.He wasn't Latvian, just had a Latvian licence.Guess Pijper rides with a French flag on his jacket if any.Similar i think Sirg Schützbach rode in the Longtrack as a Swiss rider, but is German
salty
As Marvyn says himself in the last issue of Backtrack "As far as I was concerned, I was still riding for Britain. They gave me a German body colour but I insisted on a British or English flag for the parade. It was a talking point but I wasn't going to carry about a German flag on the parade". Humphrey Appleby
No he isn't.To be born in Bristol does not make JC a British citizen. Actually, anyone born in the UK before 1983 is automatically a British citizen. Crump may also qualify for Australian citizenship and may choose to not have a British passport, but he's still a British citizen nonetheless. Well then I stand corrected because this I did not know. Funny to think that this makes Jason Crump the last British world speedway champion (In the wrong colours though). It is a little bit different here in Germany, were one of the parents has to be German for a child born in Germany automatically becoming a German citizen. German-born children of foreign parents can apply for or choose German citizenship, but don't get it automatically.
