Conkers
One question, what is the BSPA or ACU actually doing for British ice racing? I miss the British riders in this competition, like when Bruce Cribb and others competed in the 1970s or '80s it was always interesting to see some familiar names (Paul Evitts or Martin Goodwin come to mind) that we knew from speedway, taking part in ice racing during the winter. Now I hear that Martin Smolinksi is thinking about taking part in a meeting here in Germany in Januray. That's if the club or some sponsors will provide him with an ice racing bike for the event. I am sure he will be a major attarction and help to draw a big crowd. And I am sure he will not disgrace himself. He has had some practise laps on a borrowed bike last winter. I miss some adventureous guys from GB, or even NZ, AUST, CAN and the USA, to do the same and go ice racing in Holland, Austira, Switzerland or Scandinavia. Their participation would do the sport of ice racing so very good. Where are they all? In answer to your question, "what is the BSPA or ACU actually doing for British ice racing?" the answer is quite simple. Nothing. Mark Uzzell retired this year, Graham Halsall retired a couple of years ago, Rob Irvine and Kevin Rowand are our only riders at the moment. From Kevin's facebook page he is off to Russia in order to get four tyres and a bike cover from Danil Ivanov, and is waiting to see who will get the the ACU Nomination for the European Championship. He will be riding in Flims and the Czech Republic in January. I think he may be the Englishman who the Russian Forums keep refering to. The ACU didn't ask for any places in the World Championship in 2012 I was involved with the American duo of Mike Burnham and James Gillespie in 2000/2001 but the cost of them travelling from the US to Europe with no support from the AMA , plus James' partner had a baby put an end to their careers. The sheer cost of the sport for them simply became prohibitive. Ice Racing has a small but loyal band of British followers, who I'm sure would relish having a rider to follow and shout for, and I'd bet they would put their hands in their pockets to assist with sponsorship if push came to shove. I remember Cribby in 1988 at Eindhoven had the biggest group of fans there with all the Brits behind him. I'm sure if Kevin or Rob managed to break through, the fans would stump up to help. Until then we are the minnows of the sport.

f-s-p
I wonder what's happened with the Finnish team in Allsvenskan? I saw Seppänen today but he did not say a word about this. Also they seem to have put an Allsvenskan meeting on both days while the Nordic final is at Forssa...

Finland is riding their home meeting in Bollnäs. As soon as I`ll get this date I`ll publish it! I spoke with Seppänen today, said that the fixtures were released without Finland mentioned. As they were, since I checked Svemo's site also. Also there was a plan to ride the home meeting in Finland and unless Svemo or other clubs have ruled it out the plan is still there. Three tracks in Sweden hosting practise this weekend. Funasdälen, Arjeplog and Somenågonellerhurvik.

iris123
Seems they were quite happy with young Myshkovets in Ufa.The first of the Krasnikov youngsters at only 15 years.Must have just missed the youngest trainee at 5 years old who fell off twice before the parade because his helmet was too heavy for his head But i tuned a few minutes too late. Conkers
I've had some correspondence with the Media person at Ufa. It would appear that Nikolai Krasnikov has changed his mind, and intends to compete for an 8th World Title, despite telling everyone that he wouldn't ride in the World Championship in 2012. This is the quote: "Nikolai Krasnikov continued his career athlete, and if, as a result of the qualifying competition, he will receive a ticket to the world championship final, he will take part in it sure! " So it's now wait and see!
iris123
Don't think there should be any surprise that Krasnikov is named.I didn't think he talked of giving up entirely, just World Championships. But let's see about that one. Not really surprised at that statement from Irina

Ghostwalker
Its not looking good weather wise in Sweden for Ice Racing. Very mild/warm weather is expected and forecasts says that it might get as warm as +8-10 Celsius at the beginning of next week.
