The Russian Premier League will have six teams this season, following the return of Miner Uchaly after a season out of the sport, with relegated Lukhovitsy and a team from the Far Eastern Region of Amur, Blagoveshensk taking part. Speedway-Amur have signed Roman Akimenko and Pawel Tschajka as their main riders and will use local riders in the reserve slot. There would have been seven teams but Kumertau had their application rejected.

Teams:

Speedway-Amur Blagoveshensk,

Miners Uchaly

Samara

Mordovia 2 Saransk

Lukhovitsy

Izhevsk

There is an Amur Governer's Cup meeting on 27/11 at Blagoveshensk with the opening Premier League meeting the weekend after 3/4.12

There is something about the track and the meetings from the local Amur paper here but you'll need to use a translation site unless you are using Chrome

Ice racing at Eskilstuna? Smederna have been asked, by Peter Jansson who is team manager for the national ice racing teams, to host race

perhaps already in the beginning of 2012. Peter says that Smedernas track would be suitable for ice racing. I Assume that he would know but

would it really work on a track with banked bends?

Line up for The Amur Region Governor's Cup, Sunday 27th November, 2011:

Be interesting to see how Tschajka goes, but not really a great line-up compared to recent years. No Baraboschkin.

What will be more interesting is the meeting in Kamensk at the start of December.International line-up including from what i saw on the Russian forum a rider from 'England' Wonder who has agreed to travel out?

And also nice to see that Ufa will follow Togliatti and have the riders in a team colour scheme of blue/white.Think one of the other teams have gone for green/white.Now if they were hoops..... :drink::rofl:

Anyway, good to see that training has started in Novosibirisk :approve:

The Governors cup is a chance for the Locals to train competitively with Tschajka and Akimenko. The following week, is the opening of the Premier League, so I suspect finances from the Amur region have been thrown at that.

Interesting to see who rides from England, as the ACU appear to have declined any slots in any competition this year.

I stand corrected . I was relying on a contact in Russia who gave me the first names.

They've had to re-schedule the Finnish training camp again due to poor (no) ice cnditions. It's now taking place 16th to 18th of December. And I think it goes on now during the same weekend as there is a camp in Sweden. The first cancellation took out the Poles from the lineup, we'll se what the Czech riders do with this one. Maybe the Poles will now get their ferries sorted? But still, it's a Finnish camp and mandatory for anyone wanting to represent Finland this season on international meetings. And the problem I understand remains in Europe, there's no ice to practise on...

No.Like i mentioned on Facebook a few days back,we were having forest fires in Germany about 10 days ago!!!!!And the ski resorts are looking very green in comparison to last year. But we had the first bit of snow here today.Rain,Snow,Sleet and more Rain.Bit tricky outside at the moment on the motorway. But doubt it will be much.We are not having the minus 15 temps that they are getting in Russia. And there is a series of Speedway on Ice meetings scheduled in the East of Germany, one of which at least will hopefully be on a frozen lake. Not looking good at the moment

I watched the link you posted, looked like winter. Also a week a go there was a news clip from Jakutia region of Russia, neighbouring Amur possibly and there was full winter with -28. A woman interviewed said it was nothing, last winter they had -60...

One question, what is the BSPA or ACU actually doing for British ice racing?

I miss the British riders in this competition, like when Bruce Cribb and others competed in the 1970s or '80s it was always interesting to see some familiar names (Paul Evitts or Martin Goodwin come to mind) that we knew from speedway, taking part in ice racing during the winter.

Now I hear that Martin Smolinksi is thinking about taking part in a meeting here in Germany in Januray. That's if the club or some sponsors will provide him with an ice racing bike for the event. I am sure he will be a major attarction and help to draw a big crowd. And I am sure he will not disgrace himself. He has had some practise laps on a borrowed bike last winter.

I miss some adventureous guys from GB, or even NZ, AUST, CAN and the USA, to do the same and go ice racing in Holland, Austira, Switzerland or Scandinavia. Their participation would do the sport of ice racing so very good. Where are they all?
