To which meetings do you guys go to this season? :) I'm planning to go to Sankt Johann (and hopefully a meeting on the day after), Krasnogorsk and the both Assen weekends .

I have to be a realist and whilst I'll be at both Assen meetings, I won't be travelling elsewhere as I have to think of sell on. Plus my football commitments "pay the rent" as it were.

For the Euro Championship I'm doing a flyer - out Saturday and home Sunday, with a BnB about 1km from the track (The other side of Asserbos). The following weekend I'm staying in Groningen, but we should catch up at the track both weekends. I'll text you the number I use nearer the time

Conkers, regarding the second Assen weekend, I notice the World Championship roinds are on the Friday and the Saturday. Do you know if there's a third meeting on either the Thrusday or the Sunday?

All the best

Rob

Hi Rob,

no, there is just the European Championship over the weekend of 10th/11th (Practice 9th) and World Championship 16th/17th (practice 15th)

From I have been told, they have to have the Stadium ready to be handed back on the Monday 19th, so they have to strip everything down after Saturday and all day Sunday.

They are hoping to stage open practice between Monday 12th - Wednesday 14th, subject to confirmation..

Like mentioned yesterday, the ice racing nordic fina will be staged at Forssa. The local club are building a track inside the Pilvenmäki trotting track and it will be available for use on six saturdays during the season. Two of them are planned to be meetings, the rest for practise. The track will be built along the lines of the Assen track measuring around 400 meters.

Around 20 riders are coming to the training camp at Ylitornio at the start of December. Antti Aakko is not among them, as he makes his comeback in Russia at the same time. There's a training camp somewhere FAR away and Aakko will be there. He's also promised a couple of meetings in the Russian league.

Been in contact with Sue Hüttinger regarding this - Kamensk are waiting for the Austrian Federation to OK it. Notice that Ufa have named Nikolai Krasnikov in their squad, and that Ivan Ivanov won't ride for Togliatti, Karachintsev is back instead after his loan spell with Novosibirsk.

Spuer League Teams

"Mega-Lada" Togliatti - D. Ivanov, V. and D. Khomitsevichi, Karachintsev.

Ufa - Krasnikov, Koltakov, Bulankina, Vitrik, Myshkovets.

"Kaustic" Sterlitamak - Kononov, Shishegov, Arkhipov, Krisov .

Kamensk-Ural - Golosheykin, Drozdov, Taushkanov, Simon , Belousov, Nesytyh, Saydullin, Vasiliev.

"Mordovia" Saransk - Baseev, Gavrilkin, Karpukhin, Lushnikov, B. and E. Kosovo, Shcherbakov.

"Siberia" Novosibirsk - Korchemaha, Kochetov, Komarov, Zhdanov, Lviv.

"Torpedo-Shadrinsk - Rodin, Zelepukin, Novik, Akumbaev, Stukov , Borodulin.

Don't think there should be any surprise that Krasnikov is named.I didn't think he talked of giving up entirely, just World Championships. But let's see about that one.Not really too surspised about Ivan Ivanov. He seems to have been on a down turn for a couple of years now.Bogdanov has also gone as has Baltaschev who i was a bit surprised at.Thought he was fairly young. But looking back it was 2007 when he made the GPs and came 3rd in the European Final and hasn't done much since.Quite a few new names who i hope might make a name in the coming years

Bit sursprised to see Germany have only 4 places in the qualifiers!!!!Czecho have more and they don't have the numbers or quality that Germany.Fingers crossed our Finnish friend Järf has a very good season

Just noticed that the Ice Racing Finals will get rid of the A,B,C & D finals after each day, and the points system of Finals which have been around since the start of the GP system (remember, the Ice Racing "trialed" the GP the year before speedway!) and we move to the GP system of 2 semi finals and a final, with every point scored counting towards the championship.

This is in the FIM Regs for 2012:

After heats 1-20, there will be an intermediate classification from the 1st to the

18th place according to the total race points each rider has scored during the Classification heats. Based on this classification, the 8 top-scoring riders will qualify for the Semi-Final heats as follows:

Riders placed 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th will take part in Semi-final heat 1.

Riders placed 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th will take part in Semi-final heat 2.

The gate positions for each Semi-Final heat will be chosen by the riders, in the order based on the classification: The rider in 1st position will have first choice of gate position, followed consecutively by the riders in 4th, 5th, 8th for the first semifinal heat and for he second semifinal heat the rider in 2nd position will have first choice, followed consecutively by riders in 3rd, 6th and 7th positions.

The top two riders from each Semi-Final heat will qualify for the Final heat.

Riders' gate positions for the Final heat will be chosen by the riders in the order based by the total points scored. In case of tie, Art. 070.11.3 will apply.

Riders’ gate positions shall be chosen in presence of the Race Coordinator or the Jury President.

If a rider(s) cannot take part in a Semi-Final or a Final heat for which he/she has already qualified for, he/she will automatically be considered placed in the last position of the heat and will not be replaced.

No Ian....we havn`t won in the lottery

BTW .... no german iceracing championship in 2012 ..... instead Dresden will have a "german open" and "golden spike" meeting at their competition: http://www.eisspeedway-dresden.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=featured&Itemid=101

The german federation DMSB has recejted the application of Dresden. DMSB asked Steingaden to organize it but they wanna ride their traditional international meeting.

Dates clash with Assen, and if the top German ice racers are in Assen, where would that leave a German championship without them?

That applies to most of the World Championship competitors too, in respect of the meetings announced. With all due respect to the Dresden organisers, I can see them being forced to use those riders who populate the support meetings and open meetings. Plus a few of the Russians who are available as their season is over by that point.
