Poland had meetings at Gniezno and Poznan,on frozen lakes on the 2nd and 8th of January.

Two years ago the Polish promotor was trying to run a qualification round for the team championships on an artificial speedskating circuit near Warsaw, I think it was. GB were invited but the ACU didn't ask the FIM for a place, which meant the meeting was short of teams so wasn't held.

Say#s it all about the ACU.Pity you never got the chance to turn out in the Team Championship

looks like they wanna organize the german championship 17th march 2012 and an open meeting (Golden Spike) 18th march 2012

not the best terms, because it`s the same weekend as Final 3 in Assen

Maybe they are hoping that the Friday/Saturday in Assen will be unattractive to those German fans who give the Friday in Assen a miss?

Wouldn't mind a bit of that.Sounds great.Ice Speedway and a visit to Dresden.Sounds like a super idea of the German Championship, followed by a ko system against some top foreign riders. But if it clashes with Assen, not sure how they can advertise "top Russians" for the Golden spike.Well unless Krasnikov doesn't go for another World title, but does the Golden Spike instead. Now that would be a coup :party:

One problem is the German Championship being ran on the Saturday night. It devalues it slightly if the defending Champion is riding in Assen, or are relations between Bauer and the German Federation that bad that the promoters don't want him?

I suspect Krasnikov will ride in Ufa and may be tempted out with the right money.

Is Thomas Schiffner behind this meeting by any chance?

Did wonder those same questions myself.Bauer is obviously the big name in German racing. To go without him is a big risk. But sometimes in these things the line-up seems fairly unimportant.Fans turn up regardless. But like you say,it devalues the title somewhat if you don't have the best riders. And anyway the German Championship never has 16 Germans. They have to complete the line-up with foreign riders. So to go without one or two Germans menas even more foreigners.I also looked to see who was behind it and found the name of Schiffner.Wondered if it was the Sievers, but saw no evidence......

Yes the organizer is Thomas Schiffner with PS-Team.

I got a phone call from Roland yesterday evening and he told me that they wanna maybe ride the german championship sunday afternoon, so Bauer can also take part.

But it is not confirmed at the "Eisspeedway-Dresden" homepage, maybe they`ll do it when the german federation DMSB also have confirmed it?!?!?

Looking at Google Maps, it's about 660km from Assen to Dresden, and would take about 8 hours (allowing for breaks) so it's feasible for riders to drive from Assen overnight to Dresden.

But if they have a few Russians in the Saturday meeting, would it overshadow the German Championship if they held that on the Sunday?

With the Berlin meeting the weekend after (24/25th March) and the European Championship the weekend before, I suppose they booked the meeting unaware of Assen staging two meetings over two weekends. Pity as I'd like to have gone to Dresden, but I'm committed to Assen.

There's an international meeting in finland also on march 17 th. A busy day...

I'll say, It's my Birthday!

The Team semi final has been cancelled. Money issue between the Inzell club and the Inzell city :(

I see there has been an official statement from the Inzell club, due to false info on "forums".Doubt they are meaning this one though. But their reason for cancelling the meeting is down to a clash of dates,so they say.The only date they could fit the meeting in was the weekend that Togliatti have down for the Team Final. It seems according to the statement that Inzell had asked Togliatti to move the final back so they could host the semi-final.Togliatti turned this request down.It sates that the Triathlon World Championships being held in nearby Ruhpolding meant everything being booked out afterward.Though not sure what "afterwards" has to do with anything.Surely they needed a date before the Togliatti date. But maybe there were other events being held that stopped them being able to host the Ice Racing earlier.Anyway, they say they will host an FIM meeting in 2013 :approve:

If Togliatti put the date back a week, then the Russians would have been pretty miffed, as they have the final round of the Team Championships - both Super League and Premier League on the weekend of 3/4th March.

Well you would have thought the talks were going on while everything was still in the planning stage, but like i said i would have thought Inzell would have to bring their meeting forward rather than Togliattis being moved.Obviously couldn't be done, sadly

If I remember in the past, Inzell used to stage their meetings in early February, and only staged a the odd year outside February. I assumed because it was an outdoor Stadium, and although it had a freezer plant they cashed in on the winter sports crowd packing the stadium with the 'regulars'. Now they have an indoor track, they could in theory stage a meeting anytime.

I wonder if the Speed Skaters have a major say in the use of the Stadium? They did at the Sportforum in Berlin, where the Master of Spikes were forced out because of the Speed Skating Federation's inflexability. If that is the case maybe the only weekend free clashed with the Togliatti fixture.

Incidentally, I heard a good rumour last week that the FIM have appointed Illa Terroma to give the sport a major makeover and a massive push for 2013, taking it out of the traditional venues.

Now, where have I heard that before?

Yes,absolutely right that the Speed Skating body is the most important and have priority with dates i think.Wanted to go to Berlin a couple of years back for the World Championships.Just €18 on the bus......

Other news on Germany.I did see somewhere that Berlin were also planning on some sidecar races on the ice alongside this Open championship they are planning.Could be quite exciting.Think they used to have the sidecars at Erfurt?

Oh......wait to see what Petteri say's about Teromaa.

They did have some sidecar exhibition races at Inzell a few years ago, when Kath went with me and John was 3. Kath quite liked them, but did express the opinion that if the Ice Racers were mad, then the sidecars were clinically insane

They only had the two 500cc chairs on the ice though!

I think you are referring to a post from a couple of years back, I remember it. Even though I've not yet seen him in a national level meeting here in Finland, we've met a few times since and had a chat and he's actually been quite helpful. :approve: Not taking anything back though from my previous post though.

I'm told he got the "job" early this year and his input can be seen already in this seasons fixtures. Whether he'll lift ice racing to new heights or not remains to be seen. I do feel it's a mountain too steep to climb, but good luck to him anyway! He's very positive about the sport (track racing) growing towards East and West, which I'm not (regarding speedway). And my opinion is purely based on the fact that we've already seen it's not working until the Russian goverment does something with their border control. I think I read this week in my local paper that you might get to enter Russia without a visa in the next five years or so...

The meeting at Oulunkylä (Helsinki) will be on March 17th, an international/invitational/individual meeting with prize money. The Finnish AGM is this saturday, thats when we'll most likely get the date for the Nordic final.

Yes i was referring to a post or a mail you sent me about him

It would seem like practically every rider in western Europe will be needed that day then :drink: Do hope Dresden happens.Quite fancy that trip :approve: Might be different in a few months though
