Gp In Auckland 2012

Recommended Posts

Just cannot wait - Bring it on , in work at 11am on the Sunday but will be watching from 4am

Am I just being thick (again) but is it not 4am SATURDAY? These time differences do my head in but I thought it was already the early hours of Saturday in NZ and the GP is being run on Saturday night?

Just to clarify even more.......it's our (UK) Friday night turning into Saturday 4am morning. It will be 4pm Saturday afternoon local time in New Zealand.

It's a great timing for me as i'll be pretty much just coming home from a few hours out on the town :drink:

Please don't rain as it often does in New Zealand.

DON'T know who told you that. Prepared to bet it wasn't anyone who had ridden it. After yesterday's second practice the ruts on the back straight caused by numerous practice starts were filled in and rolled. A new top dressing is going on today (Saturday here now).

But the fact remains that no one can fully predict how a track will react when four guys are screaming round lap after lap. Will the dirt line stay low or go high, which here means very high on the banking. The material being used grades well and can be pulled back across the track.

But much rests with the riders themselves. Everyone here, and that certainly includes Bunyan, can make a start and stay in front. But the stage is certainly set for a good start to the series. The weather is lovely this morning and should stay that way. By 4pm the sun should be losing some of its power and that will be no bad thing ... for the track and the fans. There is no cover anywhere.

Auckland is proving hugely popular with the riders. Many, including Hancock, Pedersen and Crump are already talking of coming back for vacations. It's a long trip (not quite so bad for Crumpie of course) but well worth it.

If Odds On is still connected with who he was in the past, I'd say he has spoken to someone who has ridden the track.

Lets be honest, Ole loves a nice slick track so it wouldn't be a surprise to any of us at home!

Of course, you can see so much by staying at home, can't you?

Those of us who prefer our Speedway live will just have to put up with your prognostications I suppose, but in the meantime the track looks great: plenty of dirt and plenty of lines. Heaps of Poms out here, a few Poles and lotsa Aussies.

This what the New Zealand Herald Saturday March 31 has to say about the GP. Scroll down the page to find it - rugby is the kiwis No.1 sport after all. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/headlines.cfm?c_id=4

Thanks for this. Nice coverage and in 2.1/2 hrs time we'll see how it all turns out. Hope you all have a great day. Alan.

Who the hell said odds on was at home? How do you know he's not walked the track and talked directly with a rider who's competing? Giving him a much better idea if things than you!

As for me being at home, that may be the case but as someone who has watch every GP on tele (if I've not been their live) I have a good enough knowledge of Ole track prep style. Hell Ole himself has admited in interviews himself he likes to prep a track so it's packed down and slick but what does he know about how he prepares a track when you can tell us all?!

Gollob wins heat one from the gate. .... Big track which hopefully can provide some passing but may be later in the meeting.

As I say that AJ passes Bjarne in heat 2 ...... could be a good one
