How Many Teams In Nl In 2012

To be fair to Scunthorpe, they haven't signed 7 tried and tested riders for their start of season 1-7 (Think of this years BV team for example)

Cooper was never going to be risked in the PL after the injury he suffered so was given a way back into the sport. The rest were all young lads who had hardly completed a season between them.

Oliver, Smethills, etc were signed as injury/retirement replacements. There's going with the youngsters and there's charging the public a National League price for an amateur meeting

I do try and stay out of these things but find it so difficult. There is no question that the likes of Birks Worrall's and to an extent Nielson (who has been in the Danish League for 2 seaseons, I believe) have done well but please lets not forget that these lads have been extremly accomplished moto X riders with some considerable race experience to their credit who did a quick conversrion course to Speedway.

They have also, I imagine thanks to Rob G, found themselves leap frogging many others into the PL fairplay to RG for promoting the lads well and therefore have had the benefit of the PL and all it has to offer.

Cough

Mildenhall Fen Tigers = 52 (103)

1. Cameron Heeps 3, X, 2*, 3 = 8+1

2. Mark Baseby 1, 3, 2, 3, 0 = 9

3. Joe Jacobs 1, 3, 1, 2* = 7+1

4. Lewis Blackbird 3, 1, 3, 3 = 7

5. Jack Hargreaves FX, 2*, 0, 0 = 2+1

6. Dan Halsey 3, 3, 1, 3, 2 = 12

7. Aaron Baseby 1, 1, 0, 2* = 4+1

When you pick up your medicine can you get some for Scribbler - the rider you are thinking of must be one of those above but none really stand out  and looks like a pretty solid team effort.

Well done Scunny for Friday, missed it but from the updates looked a great meeting (scoreline apart) looks like they wanted it most on the night and we had an off night.

Hopefully a good meeting for tomorrow to round the season off, hopefully Stoke & yourselves back next year NL has in the main been excellent value this year.

Hmm, is it just me or hasn't this thread wandered massively off its intended subject...

As I was down at Sittingbourne's Central Park today where - as has previously been pointed out elsewhere - it is indeed the case that the dimensions of a Speedway track have been pegged out on the centre green of the dog track, may I bring back on topic and suggest a Kent side at one of the UK's top venues is a real possibility for the 2012 NL.. :approve:

I spoke to Ashley Taylor (the chap attempting to get Bodmin off the ground) last night at Plymouth and his approach is very much 'softly, softly, catchee monkey' - careful, measured and cautious actions designed to achieve the ultimate goal. Its very difficult to disagree with him, even if it might take longer than otherwise.

He confirmed that noise tests have taken place at the proposed site with the level of noise made by the new silencers and that they are within the benchmarking set by the Mildenhall court judgement :)

However, he did say that even if he is given the thumbs up by planning it may take up to three months before planning permission is given, at which time he will commence building the track. Its unlikely, then, that things will be ready (if, fingers crossed, he gets the complete go ahead) for the start of the 2012 season :( but if the track is ready mid season then its likely that speedway will start then :t:

Many thanks to Ashley for allowing this to be made public and every best wish to him for a successful outcome.

PS I am doing my best to persuade him to run on Thursday nights (all being well) so those of us who have to travel can take in Plymouth as well :)

Are Sittingbourne (Iwade) coming back in 2012? They have appeared on the BSPA web site and the NL is now 11 members according to the Club in the NL section!!!

Strange or what?

Gosh..: - that is indeed strange..! Maybe coz they staged a round of the GB Youth champs late on last season..? I've certainly not heard anything..

With the possible drop outs from the League Newport, poss ,Scunny (HOPE NOT),..New teams will be vital,,Lakeside are looking good and If Sittingbourne is a goer that will be great for south east England with the local Derbys ..Throw in Bodmin and things are really looking positive for the future of the National League...keep us all posted with developements , Parsloes if you can...

And could/would the 30/35 mile rule, or whatever it is, throw a spanner in the works?

Not if in different divisions and in any case I'm sure no-one in authority shall want to block Speedway at the magnificent Central Park even if a complaint did come from Iwade - who remember haven't been in the league since 2008..

I am not thinking along the lines of complaints, but more along the lines of a PL/EL team out of Central Park, and a NL team out of Iwade.

Spoke to Ashley Taylor at Newport yesterday and he has a planning meeting regarding the new track in Cornwall later this month.
