Who is G.Goodwin ?

Not sure I know the name "Goodwin", but there was Geoff GODWIN. He rode for Middlesbrough and Cradley in the 1940's, and retired in 1950 at the age of 45.

Just did a little more research, and found that it was Gerald Goodwin, who also had second-half outings at Bradford that year. Must admit, I'd never heard of him until now.

dlprezes, You have to be aware that in these years, - early '60s - , EVERY British rider with a speedway bike got a chance in the World Championship.

This could include reserves/novices at a track who would fill in for absentees or injuries on the night.

We also had a Qual.Rd. at Rye House when it was just a training track for non-league riders. So there will be names that no one except the local fans had heard of or seen, and may never have made it to league-rider status.
