speedyguy
Who is B. Warner That would be a personal friend of mine - dear old the late Bob Warner. There was recently a photo of him in 'Classic Speedway' along with then Wolverhampton team-mates Vic Ridgeon and Jim Chalkley.

There was recently a photo of him in 'Classic Speedway' along with then Wolverhampton team-mates Vic Ridgeon and Jim Chalkley. Sad to hear that Bob passed away; he was good friends with my mum. I was only a kid at the time, but I remember he was a lovely guy. Steve
Guest compost
Bob Warner seems to have been mainly associated with Eastbourne and rode for them between 1955 and 1962 (including in their SAL team in 55, 57 and 59). He also seems to have ridden 1 match for Yarmouth in the 1960 PL. The last I can find of him is one meeting for Rye House in 1964. Depending on what year you are interested in there was also a Brian Warner who rode for Wolverhampton in the PL in 1961. I've also got Bob as having ridden for Bradford Panthers in 1960 but suspect that it should be Brian instead. Hope this helps. Steve Can't check my source - a visit to the British Library and copious notes from 1961 Speedway Stars. Maybe if someone has got the Speedway Star for 1961 they could check please ? Cheers. Steve There's a photo in a recent 'Classic Speedway' showing Vic Ridgeon, BOB Warner and Jim Chalkley - all in Wolverhampton colours. It was the start of the Provincial League era in the early 1960s. Guest compost
Just as an update, the place I probably picked up on Brian instead of Bob was from the Edinburgh 1961 file on the Speedway Researcher - the person I think produced that file is usually pretty much spot on with accuracy so I just went with it. Apols if I got it wrong.
speedyguy
From what I recall, Bob Warner started at the Aussie Powell training school at Aldershot in 1952 or 1953, when his close trainee colleagues were Dave Freeborn and John Lalley.
