After Glasgow I think we have reached the cut off for averages to determine the September riding order.

Thanks in advance to those that can keep us plebs without the spreadsheet up to date!!

Cut off is the 23rd so i think these are right.....

Tungate 6.90

Lanham 6.80

North 6.65

Risager 6.45

Poole 6.20

Tres 5.68

Heeps 4.76

I'd go with the following order

1 Tungate

2 Risager

3 North

4 Poole

5 Lanham

6 Tres

7 Heeps

If indeed these averages are correct the Witches still have a no1 rider with less than a 7 point average  Suppose one day well just perhaps :o louis will realise a true no1 is needed with at least a 8.5 average to bring success. Riding order for these 7 is pretty immaterial as all 7 are much the same and will win naff all anyway. Already a top 6 place looks out of sight and has turned into yet another dud season under louis to add to the last 13 years. Oh I forgot we won the 4s egg cup  last season

It's a good job you're not a King's Lynn fan, Aljack. The National League side has a number 1 with a 5.79 average! You'd have kittens!

Think Tungate is the best man for the #1 jacket. He has that something about him that makes you think he will cope with it a little better than some.

Hopefully the move will help young Poole find some confidence and begin to score more freely again.

And what will Kings Lynn national league side win??? thats it naff all. I agree Rohan is the best suited rider in the team to ride at one as not alot seems to phase him but hardly fair on the young lad with such little experience. Yes lets hope the move to I suspect two in the team for Taylor will gain him his confidence back gradually. I think its a bl**dy shame that Taylor was thrown into the deep end at one when coming back from a nasty injury just due to the experienced riders in the team not doing their job. I hope there are numerous changes next season and the riders who let the team and the fans down are weeded out for good.

The NL is probably the one league where winning isnt the be all and end all,its aim surely is to provide the younger riders with the chance to race and put themselves in the shop window for any PL team.

Haven't we been down this road before? You've stated on these forums that you'd like next seasons team to comprise Frampton, Poole, Tungate, North and Heeps - even with a 3pt reserve it leaves less than 8 pts for your "genuine number 1" which isn't enough as you say it needs to be at least 8.5pt average.

So, who are you going to drop from your Witches 2013 team?

Now, now, Aljack, that is not strictly true.

They won a match last month. They have several matches before the end of the season, so might get another win soon!

I do really feel for Taylor. He was putting everything into it on Saturday night, but it's just not happening at the moment for him. And sometimes when you try a bit too hard, you make mistakes. It can be a vicious circle. He's been an unfortunate victim of the averages, but it happens sometimes.

Speedway can be a funny sport at times. Sometimes success is penalised the following year, and it works the other way round, too. If you have an injury-ravaged season (like Taylor has) one year, you end up with a low average, which is often made to look silly 12 months down the line.

Chris Schramm is another rider who I feel is in a similar position, and will finish the season on a far lower average than he should do. Both could be key riders in 2013.

With the news that Sam Masters has been eased out at the OTA, I provide the following for discussion:

Masters 7.55

Lanham 6.71

Tungate 6.65

North 6.64

Risager 5.89

Hart 4.52

Heeps 4.42

Total 42.38

Not suggesting that this action should be taken, and it certainly would be tough on both Tres and Taylor. However I think Ipswich would be stronger as a result. One thing for sure is if they did want to do this, they would need to do so before the new averages come into effect.

Certainly an interesting thought but my guess is louis will do nothing to strengthen the top end as always. Its never ever been the louis way to make unforced changes and us fans are used to no ambition at foxhall. Which is such a crying shame as theres lots of fans out there who do not go any more that are just forever waiting for a team capable of winning something after 14 barren years. I have plenty of time for Sam Masters and he would make a great signing with next season in mind and especially if a genuine no1 was added to make a potent top 2.

Would you take Masters if it meant dropping Poole and bringing back Hart? Yes or no

Personally I don't see it as being stronger, leaving Heeps (who is currently injured) at reserve with Hart certainly would leave us struggling at the bottom end if Cam has an off night or take longer than expected to recover fully.

I do like Sam and would love him to be a witch, but maybe next season rather than alter this years line up.
