aljack
I woukd love to see an event of that kind to honour John Berry but 10 days is not enough time and of course it would be 2 days before Cardiff GP. Yes true 2 days before Cardiff would mean the gp riders would be either here or could come a little earlier. Im sure they would not ask alot of money to ride in the memory of the greatest person and promoter ever!

I can see a case for a claim as to greatest promoter, but even though I was delighted to have some e-mail correspondence with John over the last few years and highly respect him as an individual, I think you are hard pushed to justify him as the greatest person ever

For a start most riders would probably not have heard of John Berry, like GP riders are going to add a meeting in a couple of days before the British GP, and according to you going to do it next to nowt. Get real.

Im not expecting for one minute he will because like you he has no vision. Yes true 2 days before Cardiff would mean the gp riders would be either here or could come a little earlier. I think the word you are missing is a 'realist'. I haven't got the chips that you have, so I can afford to be realistic when someone is so out of kilter like you. BTW How's them 24 mates that you claim to have. The word I am thinking is 'missing'.
wjm
Well my sentiments exactly, thats why I much prefer the elite league at least the riders are professionals and you get prefessionalism for your £15.50 + £2.50 = £18 entrance and programme fees!!! And not a load of amateurs who go on holiday whenever the whim grabs them. If you are going to fish you need to make sure your bait is decent, you are half troll, half arse hole, you are, an arsetroll.
tcoz88
No thank you be the same old crap riders on the cheap as always and its way passed its sell by date anyway. How about a John Berry Memorial Individual Championship with all star Elite leagues riders taking part, the extra fans coming through the gate to actually see star riders for the first time for nearly 2 years will pay for it easily. John berry was before my time but its nice to see you make a half sensible contribution. Small problem would that the star riders won't want to ride so close to the gp, and those that are willing are already racing for the four elite league teams racing that night or are p participating in the Jason Lyons farewell meeting. Just out of curiosity, how is the 16lapper outdated? My suggestion would be the witches vs a GB select side (built to the 42.5 points limit) with reduced admission @ £10 adult. note: edited for accuracy Edited August 13, 2012 by tcoz88
mickthemuppet
The fixture list issued at the beginning of the season showed 16th August Scunthorpe 23rd August Glasgow Why are these not now taking place?
Bash
Because we have already raced against those two teams this season as they were brought forward.
aljack
Just out of curiosity, how is the 16lapper outdated? In answer to your question, the 16 lapper was created in the early 80s by Johnson and used riders like Sigalos, Cook, Sanders, Neilsen, Olsen etc etc now 30 years later the riders used are only picked by louis who are from the Witches or the cheapest option around and its lost all of its novelty and star riders. This after 30 years is now outdated in my book and needs putting away in the archives where it belongs especially as now it attracts very poor attendances. Tom Thumb
The fixture list issued at the beginning of the season showed 16th August Scunthorpe 23rd August Glasgow Why are these not now taking place? Im guessing that its because the Scunthorpe match was moved to July 11th & Glasgow match was moved to June 14th.
seanmuffe
Could also have the Star Of Anglia. David Howe won it on the 22nd March
mickthemuppet
Perhaps somebody could explain something to me like Dave Love who seems to know everything . Its easy to work out that more peoople come to Speedway when the weather is good. The next thing is get in as many meetings in during the summer school holidays,so why has Ipswich got four vacant Thursday during this time
Baldyman
Ashley Morris you may be thinking of perhaps? That's the one, Morris.
Baldyman
I would have thought the easiest riders to get hold of would be nl riders, so how about a handicapped event against nl select, ipswich minus 30 to 50 yards, 5 pound entry.

If you're going to do that, you might as well have a local derby - Ipswich V Mildenhall. I did see a meeting against Workington in 2000 when Ipswich were in the EL, which was run under similar circumstances, and it was a pretty decent meeting, from what I remember of it. Good idea ...but for West Row not Foxhall. AJL rider for Heeps and no NO1 to balance it up to make it competitive..........but as Ipswich dont apparently have a number 1 according to some normal 6 + AJL bod so they win!! Icicle
One could have a "invitation" "Half-Lapper" match in which all the riders (& friends) race round the track chasing Altwit. I'm sure that would get a good crowd!
Bash
David Howe won it on the 22nd March My apologies, so he did and I was there unlike some people, it's been a long season
