Mr Snackette
Under the new Green Sheets he could only have replaced Doolan or Tungate. I believe Leicester away on Saturday was the cut of for the new averages. Bad timing? Whilst they are calculated up to the 23rd July, they don't take effect until 1st August. So on Thursday Lanham will still be at #1, and consequently provided the change was made before the new GSAs come into play, ie 1st August, Young Poole could have replaced either Lanham or Doolan. Probably comes down to the fact that if Doolan stayed he would go to No1 for August and there was less confidence in his scoring there than Leigh at No3. Mr Snackette
.............With Poole now ready, it was only a choice between Doolan and Tungate so Doolan had to go. ........As for Lanham, his average has now dropped to a level that I don't think its now worth replacing him. Who would you get in on his current average? Same for Risager, he's about to drop to reserve but who is out there available to come in and do a better job on his current average? No the choice was between Lanham and Doolan, for the reasons given earlier. If Lanham is to be replaced it needs to be done in the next seven days, before his average actually does fall on the 1st August. Mind you even at 7.26 there's not a fat lot out there, but it does provide the option to blood a continental novice. But would we really want someone new to these shores to assume the #1 race jacket? There could be another reason for the choice. It's common knowledge now that Lanham was reluctant to rejoin the Witches and took some persuading by Chris Louis before putting pen to paper. That much we can safely say is true. Based more on speculation, there were also whispers that Lanham was guaranteed the season and wouldn't be replaced by either Risager or Poole when they were fit to return. Whether that part is true or not who knows. But if so, it would have been incredibly difficult for Chris Louis to go back on his word a few months later. Baldyman
I don't care about the reason, As far as I'm concerned, the right rider was let go. Who knows, he may well be back next year as a 2nd string/reserve

nick
Having been to both away meetings last week, the change was a no brainer, Doolan is in the same rut as he was in the middle of last season and with the playoff's disappearing into the sunset, we had to do something. I don't personally think that Poole will do much better and like Risager it will take time to come back to form, but Doolan had a disinterested look about him. Lanham was good at Sheffield and unfortunate with his engines at Leicester but once he drops from one then the pressure will be on, as he will need to reproduce his form at 3 and 5 at previous clubs. Risager needs a spell at reserve, following his two injuries, he seems to lack confidence if he enters the corner alongside someone, but this happened last year and he gradually improved as the matches went on. I would have like to have taken a chance on an untried rider but finances are tight and I think that is unlikely to happen until next season. Maybe then Lasse can return as he looked equally fed up on Saturday when he was left on his own when all the Lions were watching the last heat. Hope Kevin gets fixed up somewhere and maybe he will return in the future.

aljack
I take it Morten will be the new captain Well that will be interesting to see what louis does, if like in your opinion its risager as captain how inspirational do you think he will be to his fellow 6 riders? Totally out of form and confidence add to that he looks scared going into the first bend if beside a rider, pootles around on the inside just like lanham, well it just goes on and on. I hear Jesper Monberg has signed for Somerset on an average below that of lanham. If that is actually true then there you go what ambition has louis really got as he would have been the perfect replacement for (I dont want to ride for the Witches) lanham and the new captain. A top 6 place is fast disappearing and dropping doolan was just great but louis should have added risager and lanham and got rid of all the dead wood. I stand corrected on Monbergs average its too high but still a shame he couldn't be fitted in. Edited July 24, 2012 by aljack
Mr Snackette
........I hear Jesper Monberg has signed for Somerset on an average below that of lanham..... I'm afraid you hear wrong. Monberg comes to the Rebels on a 7.67 average, which is above Lanham's current GSA, and certainly well above what it will be come 1st August. Try again.

spanner47
Does it really matter who the captain is? All he does is have a toss at 19-30ish. If the riders want advice they'll ask Chris, as he's forgotten more than most of them will ever know. Like most Witches fans, i'm glad to see Taylor back, at least when he's at the start the fans will feel they've got a chance, unlike Doolan who has looked awful on far too many occasions. Yes but an inspirational captain who leads from the front and actually wins races can inspire other team members to follow suit. Thats never going to happen if risager is captain is it? Roland
Risager.....Captain? They really should tighten drugs testing within the sport, make it all inclusive, starting with promoters and team management alike. Lets plan for the future......Rohan Tungate for Captain! Lets make it clear to all concerned that the boy is the future of the club and make sure we keep him here for the next 10 years. I had high hopes for Morten, but the two injuries appear to have knocked his confidence to the degree that he just rolls in to the bends when behind, he looks frightened of the shadows let alone opposing riders. While soap box is out, Doolan had to go after Saturday, he really was super slow and observing his practice starts.....they looked and were rubbish, no forward momentum whatsoever. Bike set-up was way out and he sat on the bike like a sack of spuds. Just to finish on a positive note, Camo is going to be a very good rider indeed, North also will be good, although sometimes he appears to try just a little too hard (could do with better kit really) Tress value, fast and a nice lad. Lanham will be better away from No.1, was superb at Sheffield showing thats hes still got it. Good luck to Taylor, he needs time to get back into it and is class.........Over and out! Soap box away!
