LagutaRacingFan
Why don't Ipswich sell Gollob and Hampel as assets?
aljack
What good did the practice actually do? Those that did go out just put it round mid track at 3/4 throttle. Perhaps just a bit of PR to show willing and no more. If we had seen them just concentrate on starts or tried different lines etc then may have been some point to it. Spot on I quite agree but just a thought or two, why do riders who have been at Ipswich all season (well lanham nearly all) have to suddenly learn in mid July where to ride on the track and how much throttle to use??? And its been said that the riders can learn off Donky and louis how to gate, well it will be difficult to learn much off louis when he was in Sweden where his priorities were. Ipswich Jules
It's not so much about what they may of learnt from doing some after meeting practise, it's more about showing the fans who had to endure that dross last week that they are at least trying to do something to address the situation, that they are putting in as much effort and time as they can and using every available oppourtunity to get some track time in a season fragmented by rained off meetings - not least of all because their team manager told them to! What would happen if a footballer refused to train against his managers wishes? He's be removed from the first team for a period of time. What would happen if I went against my managers at work request to do something? I'd be disciplined and asked to explain my actions. I can only assume Leigh, Dakota and Mat had reasons to not be present after the meeting last week as Pete has said that ALL riders were asked to go out, if they didn't have reasons then I hope they are punished by the club - the fans deserve a team of riders that are committed to the team as us fans are to supporting them. The riders got paid for their efforts last week, several hundred fans had to pay to "support" it, the least the riders can do is show us that they want to improve upon the situation. Even if it is just a token gesture of a few laps afterwards which doesn't really gain them anything, it's the very least the fans deserve to see - but I guess some riders couldn't even be bothered to do that. Bash
That is true Im not saying I would rather we went out of existence by being in the elite league but louis has had £40,000 - £50,000 on transfers in recent times and that should have been enough to keep us in the elite league with the extra revenue that would bring in if we had a competitive team. Success breeds success and in turn that brings in bums on seats and if louis had only made some astute moves in signing the right riders (no Poles) that could actually bring success then who knows the gates of 1998 could return. And that money went to keep the club afloat, but you just choose to ignore these fact even when they are explained to you by other posters. nick
So Aljack, you would rather we didn't exist than perform as we are at present (which I will admit is not good at present (well at home). If you feel that strongly why don't you not go and just go to Mildenhall where they are doing well or maybe you could follow Poole as you seem to just want the glory years. You really are in need of some fact and reality in your fantasy world. Duggo openly admits he throws £50.000 a year trying to keep Lakeside competitive, yet you seem to think that this sort of money would last for years. Back to our underperforming riders, i dont see that practice afterwards is that much help, but as Jules says, at least it shows the fans that they're trying. I know they cant have a proper practice before the start, but surely they could practice starts somewhere. Last week when Doolan crawled out of the start in his 1st race it was embarrassing. All you'd need is 2 stakes in the ground, a bit of elastic and a stopwatch, time the riders over 50yards (if you could find 50yards of flat ground), had we done that, then when Doolan was timed much slower than the rest, that would have given time to change his set-up. Seems simple to me.
Bigtimbers
Regarding the practise after the meeting i think its very disappointing how only some of the riders came out, surely after a bad meeting they are down on confidence and a few laps after it would bring back a little bit of confidence for the next meeting. If the riders dont put effort in to make themselves perform better why should us supporters put effort in at work to pay to watch them ride. I wish them all the best luck in the next couple of meetings

Doolan 7.20 Tungate 6.98 North 6.81 Lanham 6.58 Tressarieu 6.12 Risager 5.98 Heeps 5.12 Total 44.79 So new "number 1" and a new reserve. Id imagine at least half a dozen clubs will be in line hoping to sign him as a third heat leader on that kind of averageA likely bargain in that position. 2ndbendbeerhut
As a number three Leigh would certainly have no end of offers, as would Doolan on a 7.
