SCB
Im not sure we can bring back Morten in place of Taylor. I thought that any rider left out of a redeclared 1 to 7 could not return to the line up that year. This may be different in this case given it was due to injury and not just being dropped. There is no rule to stop you dropping a rider and bringing him back in that season. In fact, there is no rule to stop you dropping a rider the season before and bringing him back the next year. The rule says, if you have a rider in your 1-7 at the end of one season, you cannot bring him back into your team the following year (unless it's in your intial team). I'd say that we did get special dispensation as we lost two riders on the same night so were tasked with filling both places within a month, one rider would of been achievable but a second would of been a bit of a big ask so probably were allowed a slightly longer R/R function than a month. Just speculation / common sense thinking on my part thoough, I need a lie down! No, there is just no rule that says you can't use R/R all year. So you don't need any special dispensation. It may be frowned upon but there nothing to stop it happening.

Bigtimbers
Agree with the post above. Poole is the better rider and has more potential. But he won't get it over Risager for non speedway reasons. In my opinion. It should always be about who the better rider is and what there going to do for the club. Then they have to think about the revenue the rider would bring in the gates and who the fans would most like to see in the team...Morten or Taylor?? Baldyman
So what would you do then if morten is ready to ride in 2 weeks time and Taylor in 6 to 8 weeks time?
treborbee
There is also the factor that Morten is an Ipswich asset and Taylor is a Peterborough asset. Morten is still only 24 years old, and could still have a big future with the witches. To say Morten will get his team place back for non speedway reasons, is not fair on him or on the management. Taylor is clearly one of Pete Simmonds favorites in the team, so who is to say he won't get it for non speedway reasons? Morten proved twice last year, that when he gets an injury free run, and some confidence in him, he is a PL heat leader, and clearly a better rider than Taylor is yet - not to say Taylor won't be better in the long run - but he is not an Ipswich rider in the long run. Another thing to take into consideration is the difference in experience and professionalism between the two. Morten always shows up with immaculate equipment, and very professional in his approach to the sport and its fans, where as from what i have been told, most other riders and mechanics laughs at Taylor for how little effort he puts in to his equipment. Doolan has also stated how happy he was to have Morten in the team last year, as he was great with the young kids in the team! I think the fact that Morten got nearly the same money from his charity collection as taylor did, even though there was less than half the crowd compared to when they did Taylors, shows that Morten is very popular with the fans at Ipswich - and i mean other than the 20 fans who posts on this forum.
Baldyman
Can't help to agree with nearly everything you have said there. Although the way morten rides doesnt exite me much, there is no doubt in my mind that given a good injury free run and some money to spend on some pretty fast engines, he could be one of the top riders at this level. CardinalSin
I know what catch is referring to and he's not alone in his thinking. But I don't think there's a huge difference between the two riders at the moment in terms of current point scoring ability. I like Risager, and I still think he's capable of being similar to Lanham at this level, a solid 7-8 point man. Whichever rider misses out, won't be sitting idle for long. There will be a very handy rider available for some club to strengthen up. I'd bet there are a number of promotions watching the situation closely. dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Surprised to see no one has commented on the fact that it was all but announced on live tv that barring any reaction to his practice spins that Morten will be back in the side within a fortnight. Baldyman
Didn't hear that or fast forwarded past it. It should help having Morten back in the side. Let's hope it doesn't take him too long to get up to speed, although it will take a few meetings. If he comes back and gets off to a flyer, that will help. Let's hope he can now go through the season without anymore injuries. He is a confidence rider that doesn't need knocking any more.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
With Mat picking up a couple of better scores Morten may well come back at reserve.
Baldyman
So will Morten be back for Thursday? As we also have a meeting on the Friday and on the Monday.
Baldyman
Well wherever they put rohan, he will find it much harder now. Do we know who will be at 1 when the next set are out, not that I can see it making any difference our scoring power.
Badge
Witches back to full strength: http://ipswichwitches.co/ ! Lanham 2 Tungate 3 Doolan 4 Risager 5 North 6 Tresarrieu 7 Heeps Edited May 29, 2012 by Badge
Baldyman
Let's hope Matt will score better at reserve, he should win heat 2's easily enough, and will hopefully cover what Rohan doesn't score at number 2, a very tough position to ride in. Welcome back to Morton, let's again hope it doesn't take him too long to get back into it. With rye having a proper number 1 in their team, it could yet again be very close. I shall be cautious and go for a draw.
Super Blue
Some interesting partnerships here , will be very keen to see how this lineup pans out ! Hopefully being a 7 man team will be a positive thing but we can't expect too much out of Morten for a few weeks and lets see if the move to reserve can help Tres's confidence a bit . I must admit looking at the averages we could see all sorts of partners for Cam before the end of the season .
Baldyman
I can't ever recalling a rider having an average as high as Matt's being at reserve. So if Matt starts to put in some reasonable scores for a while, its likely that Morten or maybe Rohan could end up at reserve for July? Can only suggest Joel Parsons, or one of his teammates, in their compact team of about PL winning side 2004 circa.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Whatever happens we will end up with a very strong reserve which will be vital to any hopes of success. Hope that last weeks great showing from Cam is a sign of things to come also.
