Tungate was very good at Showground last night, deserved more points than he scored, will be very good on big away tracks in the Premier, worried the crap out of Bach! Camo got closer all night, best of all, both came thro' unscathed......happy days

 Love that comment, really wouldn't think Rene would have lost any sleep !

Replacement Plans in Place - Chris Louis: http://www.bbc.co.uk...motogp/17430214 (NB: link is to an audio clip).

Doubt it, would never reject the Witches.

Can you quote who/what you are replying to, please.

Thanks.

Despite being on the Ipswich retained list for the whole of his career Leigh has actually rarely raced for the Witches. He certainly didnt enjoy the old shape - particularly how it narrowed off turn 2 into the back straight.Since the revamp and the widening at that point Leigh has looked very comfortable at Foxhall. Over the years many Ipswich fans have been critical of Leigh, largely unfairly in my opinion, and I hope this doesn't come back to haunt us now and cause Leigh to choose to go elsewhere.

There's a big difference to being critical of Lanham, and critical of his ability to ride the old Foxhall. He has always been a model professional, and is a very good rider at PL level.

According to the BSPA website Cory Gatercole has signed a deal with Plymouth.

Whether he was ever seriously in the frame for a Witches team spot, only CL could answer.

With the surname you've given him 'Mr Snackette' it looks as if Cory should be quick out of the starts for Plymouth this year!

Sounds nailed on to me listening to that Chris Louis interview that Lanham is the rider in question. Obviously can't confirm or deny while he's riding for Rye so i'm expecting that one to happen.

Sensible to hang fire on a replacement for Poole until more is known on the length of his absence. With our side built the strength in depth route, i don't think we'll be badly affected by R/R.

If it is Lanham then this makes them a stronger team, both home and away. One thing I am curious about is the number of crashes which happen at Foxhall these days - is it the crash captial of British speedway? I can't remember seeing many of the updates reports from last season in which 'fell' didn't appear quite regularly. MAybe last week was an exception but perhaps someone who goes to Foxhall could give their views on why so many crashes happen there in the PL.

I should think a big reason last season was the 2 Chris', love them both to bits but they did fall rather a lot, and of course mega mouth himself was always good for a least 1 if not 2 falls a meeting!!! Just over riding on their part, but not sure of any other reason tbh.

Over riding by certain riders is probably the most common factor. I also think we have quite a grippy track with its mix of clay and shale. you often see away riders struggling in the turns on there first visits. Also with It's reasonably fast straight's the riders enter the turns at a pretty high speed.

Mike Bacon has tweeted that there is "BIG" Witches news in tomorrow's Ipswich Star and EADT. You'd have to think its the replacement for Risager but we'll see.

Maybe not Lanham after all then? Isn't he still contracted to Rye and in their team for Friday?

But no Witches matches until after that ...

I realise that Lovey, but if it is Lanham, Strange time to announce his capture with Leigh riding for Rye as a contracted rider the following night.

Maybe someone else entirely we'll find out tomorrow i suppose.

Rohan is revelling in it

SPEEDWAY: Rohan Tungate is already living up to the hype that greeted his Ipswich Witches signing just before Christmas.

The 22-year-old, from Kurri-Kurri in New South Wales, has been impressive in both opening meetings for the ‘Sackers’ Witches and is likely to play a major part in any success the Witches may enjoy this season.

At Rye House on Saturday and on a track he admitted he had, “only seen on You Tube”, Tungate scored a paid 11 points from five rides and helped the Witches retain the Anglian Cup, with an aggregate two-point victory.

“I must admit I’m getting more and more confident,” said the quietly-spoken Tungate.

“I’ve settled in really well in Ipswich and things couldn’t be better.

“I just hope I can keep scoring the points and I know I still have a lot to learn.”

Tungate is set to be required quite a lot by the Witches over the next month or so.

With Morten Risager set to be out of action for up to six months after crushing four vertebrae in his back at Foxhall on Thursday, and Taylor Poole for up to two months with a broken arm, Tungate and fellow reserve Cameron Heeps could be very much in demand.

Indeed ‘Sackers’ Witches director of speedway Chris Louis says there will be one and possibly two new signings to aid his injury-hit squad.

“It’s a huge shame because the boys had all started to bond,” he said.

“They had been together for a couple of weeks now and I know the rest of the boys are devastated for Morten and Taylor.”

One rider being linked with a Witches return is Leigh Lanham who was in superb form for Rye House, where he is currently on a short-term contract at Hoddesdon.

He is an Ipswich asset, lives near the stadium and could move to Foxhall at very short notice should Louis wish.

“Leigh Lanham is definitely an option for us,” admitted Louis.

“But he’s one of a few options we have. He’s our rider and he likes the track the way it is now and if it was right for us, we wouldn’t hesitate to use him.”

One or two fans queried whether there was something wrong with the track on Thursday night that led to so many crashes, but Louis refutes that.

“There was absolutely nothing wrong with the track, it was in perfect order,” Louis added.

Whilst I feel desperately sorry for Morten and Taylor for the injuries they have suffered, but the Club have done absolutley the right thing here by re-signing Leigh Lanham. For a week, he has been a wanted man, having found himself in a real predicament following Newport's closure. I'm sure there would have been interest from Rye House to make his move there a permanent one, to replace the equally unlucky Chris Neath, but with Leigh living so local to Foxhall and being a family man, this will hopefully suit all parties.

It does give the look of the Witches side a different complexion, but thinks it is slightly distasteful that some contributors on here are taking the opportunity to rubbish Morten, and his possible contribution to the side. He is a genuine rider, who had prepared extensively for the new season and looked terrfic in pre-season practice and was looking for a good season. It is possible, you know, to make contributions to a forum without having to taint comments with negativity about others (who through no fault of their own, now find themselves injured!)

Anyways, with regard the covering for Taylor Poole, again I think the Club are doing the correct thing by playing a waiting game to ascertain the full timescale of the lay off from his injury (which at the time looked by far the worst of all last weeks incidents). Rider replacement may not be everyones chosen option, but with the inclusion of Lanham at Number One, this means that the remaining riders should be able to cover for Poole until his return date is known.

If after four weeks or so, it appears he is a way off returning to racing, then reassess the situation and either carry on with rider replacement (if it is not placing too much duress on the remaining riders) failing that maybe make a short term replacement, on that basis.

The good news is that both Morten and Taylor are now out of hospital and starting that road to recovery, for which I wish them all the best. It is also encouraging to see from Chris Neath on Twitter today, that he is being allowed out of hospital to attend Foxhall to watch the Star of Anglia tonight. Hopefully that will help lift his spirits as he begins his recovery and all good wishes to him also.

It has been an unprecedented start to the season reagrding injuries for a not just the riders mentioned, but many others. Let's hope they are all back in the saddle soon and back doing what they do best by entertaining us all.
